for a previous production "It revels in visceral shocks and baroque comedy, yes, and one or two stereotypes pass by without scrutiny, but the play has a torment in it, too, that flares up in disarming moments, ambushing the spectator....Ultimately, however, the play’s success rests on its perfectly crafted plot and its deranged blending of pathos with piss-take. 'Beauty Queen,' and Druid’s masterly new production makes you laugh until you’re sore. But it leaves you hurting just the same." Full Review

for a previous production "While their bizarre take on Chekhov’s classic 'The Seagull' is playful, daft, and ‘meta’, it’s also thrumming with something visceral and enigmatic, the sad, perhaps pointless passion of the human...There’s the odd dull passage amid the mayhem, but — redeeming their myriad dysfunctions — the wonky-feathered folk onstage effortlessly win you over." for a previous production "Some gambles misfire at times. But, then, in a six-hour show that races along at breakneck speed — a mad, dynamic pageant of fire, blood, guts, and spunk — something has to give. Sinking their teeth into Shakespeare, this brilliant Druid ensemble clutch him down to the sad, saving, and sacred earth where his work belongs, and you leave stunned by the measure and the ferocity of their bite."
