Clever, Entertaining, Quirky

See it if You love Shaw and want to see a cleverly staged and entertaining show. Well-adapted by Director David Staller.

Don't see it if Nothing untoward in the content, but young children might find the material too challenging to absorb. Best for ages 12+.

Entertaining, Edgy, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want to see superb acting by Hiddleston and Cox, masterful staging, and a fresh take on Pinter’s classic play.

Don't see it if You want a light-hearted musical. There are funny moments, but it is mostly serious and emotional.

Relevant, Slow, Thought-provoking

See it if You love period theater, and want to contemplate the nature of Christian faith, sacrifice, hypocrisy, and harm that can come from piety

Don't see it if You expect a fast-moving play, or one that answers the questions it raises.

Also The actors perform the play competently but dryly. Most of the humor f... Read more Read less

Great acting, Entertaining, Great writing

See it if You love the original story of Anne and would like to see all the characters brought to life by the talented Ali Ewoldt.

Don't see it if You are expecting a full fledged, high budget production, because this seems more like a live read.

Also Overall, we enjoyed it, though I was a bit put out to arrive and find ... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Quirky, Fluffy, Indulgent, Banal

See it if You loved the movie and know all the catchphrases.

Don't see it if If you are looking for something moving or thought-provoking, look elsewhere. It is light fare, but wine brought to your seat helps.

Confusing, Disappointing, Overrated, Slow, Ambitious

See it if You are a Bob Dylan fan. The music is the most redeeming aspect. Not McPherson’s best.

Don't see it if You are expecting McPherson’s writing to carry the day. This is a tremendous disappointment after The Night Alive and The Weir.

Edgy, Disappointing, Quirky, Overrated, Banal

See it if You love playing Guitar Hero, or were a big fan of the eponymous Jack Black movie

Don't see it if It is mediocre, limping along until its closing date. Other than the actress playing the Principal, not Broadway level voices in this cast.

Enchanting, Must see, Great staging, Epic, Riveting

See it if You are a fan of the Potterverse, or have children who are. The stagecraft raises the bar for every show on Broadway.

Don't see it if You have no familiarity with Harry Potter.

Great writing, Edgy, Great acting, Absorbing, Ambitious

See it if You want to see two great actors bring emotional monologues to life through their storytelling. Sturridge steals the show.

Don't see it if You want to see something light, happy, or with splashy sets and costumes. It is the opposite. Stripped down production emphasizes stories.

Enchanting, Absorbing, Funny, Delightful, Clever

See it if You love magic, illusion, and mystery

Don't see it if You don’t like interactive shows that require audience participation. Not for young kids: 2 unexpected f-bombs and “blow job” mentioned.

Clever, Edgy, Funny, Intelligent, Entertaining

See it if You are in the mood for irreverent, clever fun

Don't see it if You are a devout Mormon, are easily offended, or attending with children under 14.

Delightful, Great singing, Refreshing, Entertaining, Fluffy

See it if You want to be put in the Christmas spirit and enjoy a family-friendly outing (other than the usual Nutcracker/Christmas Spectacular fare).

Don't see it if You want a sophisticated storyline, hate Christmas carols, or are feeling Grinchy.

Also A very charming production that spreads Christmas cheer to children an... Read more Read less

The Nap (Broadway)

Disappointing, Clever, Intelligent, Quirky, Funny

See it if The show is a very good and funny production.

Don't see it if comedy is highly dense, British humor. Didn’t get attached to the characters

Epic, Great writing, Intense, Refreshing, Resonant

See it if You hate insipid musicals, and want to see something genuinely moving.

Don't see it if Might not be appropriate for kids under 10 because it deals with a suicide as part of the premise.

Aladdin (Broadway)

Great singing, Funny, Fluffy, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if Perfect for all ages to enjoy a night out at the theater together. The music is catchy and sung beautifully. The genie is a tour de force.

Don't see it if you want something different from the Disney movie. It is pretty much the same, but brought to the stage.

Raunchy, Indulgent, Entertaining

See it if You are a fan of the Go-Gos and/or like shows that have positive messages about being trans or non-binary

Don't see it if You aren’t a fan of the Go-go’s, don’t want to see something with a lot of bawdy humor, or have children with you.
