Entertaining, Edgy, Classic

See it if You like murder-mysteries. It's similar to Cabaret. Excellent music and choreography!

Don't see it if You are looking for a "feel-good" musical.

Cliched, Fluffy, Resonant, Classic

See it if You want a classic. It's a good introduction to musical theatre.

Don't see it if You don't like sappy stories about orphans and the Great Depression.

Clever, Funny, Relevant

See it if You enjoy Family Guy, The Simpsons, and/or South Park. Musicals written in a smilie style include Urinetown and The Book of Mormon

Don't see it if you are offended easily by jokes about race, sexuality, religion, or depression.

Absorbing, Entertaining, Masterful, Thought-provoking

See it if You like to learn about music history, Carole King, or get a glimpse at how the music industry works.

Don't see it if You're expecting a typical jukebox musical. This has a powerful plot (which happens to be Carole King's biography).

Absorbing, Clever, Great staging, Great writing, Refreshing

See it if You enjoy dark comedy. Similar to The Addams Family, Little Shop of Horrors, and Rocky Horror.

Don't see it if You are bringing the little ones. It's a PG-13 type of show. It should be fine for mature children.

Absorbing, Great writing, Masterful, Must see, Relevant

See it if You enjoy a good coming-of-age story with rich characters.

Don't see it if you are offended by LGBT relationships or are triggered by talk of suicide.
