If you like this person's taste, follow him or her!
See it if You are a fan of Sorkin, Daniels or To Kill A Mockingbird. The storytelling is excellent, the cast is generally terrific.
Don't see it if You hated the book. CAVEAT: The theatre may also be an issue: the Shubert is a steeply raked house with no elevator.
See it if You are a fan of the early days of rock n roll, or if you need a refresher course.
Don't see it if You're not up for singing and smiling for two hours.
See it if you are taking a young child to his or her first Broadway show. It is absolutely familiar territory for anyone raised on Disney.
Don't see it if You can see anything else. The cast works hard, but after the inital WOW over Julie Taymor's puppeteering creations, it's a letdown.
See it if Your tastes in theatre run toward classics & epics. Don't be put off by the "rap musical" hype--the score has something for everyone. 10/10
Don't see it if A jukebox or Disney musical is your idea of the best of Broadway because it's easy to digest. There is a LOT of material here--come hungry.
See it if You want a few hours of magical entertainment delivered by a high energy cast. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it!
Don't see it if You want something totally unpredictable. This is Disney: expect great sets, catchy music and a happy ending.
See it if I love: the music, Alfie Boe, and Earl Carpenter, who played Javert the night we attended.
Don't see it if You loved the original cast, staging, or any of the concerts. The current version is inconsistent & has contrivances where none are needed.
See it if You appreciate the importance of art transcending politics. Bonus if you appreciate Yiddish theatre.
Don't see it if You have a problem following a non-linear plot structure--the play time travels a bit--or if you like your theatre light.
See it if You didn't get to experience Pippa Soo in "Hamilton." She is LUMINOUS. The cast is wonderful too--strong performances.
Don't see it if You can't sit straight through for 2 hours (no intermission), especially when a show is as strange and the music as unaffecting as this.
See it if You're a fan of the Wizard of Oz; if you're a GLEE fan; if you're looking for a show for the whole family.
Don't see it if You don't enjoy spectacle. A bit overhyped and inconsistent--the big songs are hummable, the rest of the score is just OK.
See it if You hear the music of the world around you, you enjoy dance and rhythm, and you appreciate creativity and high energy.
Don't see it if You like your theatre conventional and sedate.
