Overrated, Disappointing, Edgy, Great staging, Ambitious

See it if you love great music, great high-energy performances, masterful direction and staging

Don't see it if you expect it all to add up to a well-told story.

Also The more I think about this show, the worse it gets in my estimation, ... Read more Read less

Little Women

Disappointing, Great writing, Slow, Clever

See it if You want to see an interesting take on Little Women. Beth is pretty terrific

Don't see it if You’re expecting to see some of the exuberant staging / energy of Hamill’s previous works.

Also This production gets pretty bogged down with realistic scenery and cos... Read more Read less

White Noise
East Village
Too long, Slow, Overrated, Intense, Disappointing

See it if you’re intrigued by a fascinating plot conceit being attempted by four actors doing their best

Don't see it if you’re expecting plausible plot twists. The dialogue is clunky with weird shifts. Cliche relationship devices. Long unneeded monologues

Also I usually rely on ShowScore to let me know what shows are good to see.... Read more Read less

Peter Pan
Midtown W
Clever, Ambitious, Thought-provoking, Confusing, Disappointing

See it if You want to see the story through a very much refracted lense done by great actors

Don't see it if You want the magic of the story to still come through

Vanity Fair
Midtown W
Clever, Ambitious, Great writing, Indulgent, Disappointing

See it if you want to see a masterful adaptation of Thackeray's novel. The writing is quite good

Don't see it if you want to see the execution miss the mark. Unnecessary anachronistic dance sequences as well as rampant, shallow over-acting water it down

Great writing, Great staging, Refreshing, Absorbing, Intelligent

See it if you want to see an excellent new ensemble based play.

Don't see it if you wouldn't enjoy a nuanced look at life through the lens of a high school girls' soccer team. I certainly did

Love, Love, Love
Midtown W
Thought-provoking, Quirky, Fluffy, Clever, Disappointing

See it if for a clever comedic vehicle for critiquing the baby-boomer generation as well as millenials that makes you think.

Don't see it if you want to leave the theater with a sense of clarity about the show. But maybe that's the point. Definitely a conversation starter

Absorbing, Thought-provoking, Intense, Edgy, Resonant

See it if you like the shows that help you grow as a human being

Don't see it if you're not in an open-minded mood.

Great staging, Fluffy, Quirky, Disappointing

See it if you want to catch Kelly Curran in an amazing performance

Don't see it if you prefer good acting across the board from all 5 performers

Funny, Fluffy, Disappointing, Great writing, Quirky

See it if You love the music, and you'd like to see a new, lighter take on the material

Don't see it if you're looking for more depth. The humor isn't used as a way of coping with the difficulties of life in this production. It's played light

Thought-provoking, Resonant, Profound, Must see, Masterful

See it if you love great acting with an across the board great cast doing great writing.

Don't see it if you get your panties in a bunch about cursing, nudity, or other such silly things to worry about

Delightful, Enchanting, Entertaining, Hilarious, Clever

See it if you're looking for a show that you can bring the kids to. I saw it with an audience filled with children and the energy was infectious.

Don't see it if you're looking for something more geared strictly for adults

Thought-provoking, Relevant, Intelligent, Ambitious, Absorbing

See it if You want see some relevant material done masterfully by Bryan Cranston

Don't see it if You dislike getting out of your comfort zone. You dislike high tech shows. Though the tech is used to highlight the very point of viewing

Also A few of the other lead performances are very much left wanting, but o... Read more Read less

Intense, Great staging, Great acting, Riveting, Masterful

See it if you want to see a rendition of this play that doesn’t lag in Act II as typically happens. The whole show is incredibly done

Don't see it if you want the modern relevance spoon fed to you as often happens with Shakespeare. This production explores what’s embedded in the text

God Said This
West Village
Clever, Disappointing, Quirky, Funny

See it if you want to see a show that explores family dynamics and alcoholism and race with a cast of five

Don't see it if one of those 5 cast members being such an excruciatingly bad actor ruins much of the good work the other artists are doing. It's a shame.

Great singing, Great staging, Disappointing, Slow

See it if You like Bob Dylans's music and you'd like to see some great performances (though uneven)

Don't see it if you're expecting something other than an overall "mood" to experience.

Also All of Dylan's music has been orchestrated beautifully, but unfortunat... Read more Read less

Great acting, Intimate, Confusing, Slow

See it if you like watching good performances in an intimate setting

Don't see it if you want to be able to follow the writing. High potential, but fat too much time spent in the character's childhoods. Not quite enough info

Great staging, Epic, Energetic, Fluffy, Shallow

See it if you want to see the theater space transformed and some highly energetic performers combined with spectacle

Don't see it if you like your spectacle balanced with story. Even though the plot is relatively simple, the mumbled lyrics and shallow writing, don't help.

Also Still worth seeing for the design elements and some of the individual ... Read more Read less

Dated, Disappointing, Overrated, Quirky, Great dancing

See it if you love great dancing and singing. The show attempts to recreate the original, which is great if you love museum theater I suppose...

Don't see it if you like story-driven theater. It's pretty campy. Also, the lyrics (though largely unimportant) are mostly unintelligible.

Must see, Masterful, Great singing, Great acting, Great staging

See it if you want to see a show done by an absolutely flawless cast across the board. I mean superb.

Don't see it if you judge shows by how "catchy the tunes are." That is not what this show is about.

89
Ambitious, Clever, Entertaining, Epic, Intelligent

See it if you want to see a great version of this very difficult Shakespeare play. They made some great choices.

Don't see it if you don't like Shakespeare done well outdoors
