“This play takes on notions of progress and success, but more original is how it juxtaposes data with the human soul, the idea of the artist as truth seeker with the static male gaze of the "beloved" in the arts. This ambitious play, delivered on much of this with clarity and humor...Don't miss this play. It needs to be extended. Although the cast was excellent, Ashley Griffin's Amy was quite a stand-out.” Full Review
"Focuses less on the ostracism and political fight for medical treatment than extraordinary love and friendship amid the crisis...A real strength of Regeneration's production is how it recreates the post-Stonewall world of quick pick-ups, ephemeral romance and gritty sex...Director Gualberto made this material fresh...In 'As Is' human dignity is a reality worthy of respect...I was greatly moved by the kindness and accuracy of this production." “Offers wonderful characters, who perform a kind of psychic strip tease, as though their lives depend on it--and they may. With self-irony and humor, the balm of the playwright, this cast brings a classic into our time. They are, like us, in difficult situations--at sea in fragile crafts. At the end of this show, I felt we all weathered the storm and will go out in a new day.” Full Review
