If you like this person's taste, follow her!
See it if You're in the mood for something cute, funny, and all-around enjoyable. Bonus: the NYC apartment set actually looks like a real apartment
Don't see it if You're in the mood for something more serious in either subject matter or style of music.
See it if You want to see a classic rock concert, with the banter between songs replaced by classical music. You like Very Dramatic violin playing.
Don't see it if You're expecting clever mashups of classical+rock (too few of these) or over the top cheese (doesn't get there till the 2nd half of act 2)
See it if You're looking to see something thought-provoking and relevant that's also a ton of fun
Don't see it if You like shows that are grounded in realism, or you don't like shows that deal with race
See it if You like heartwarming, entertaining, feel-good shows that can also turn emotionally wrenching on a dime.
Don't see it if You think shows need to be dark to be good or "real." And of course, if your personal 9/11 memories make this too painful to see.
See it if You only have 100 minutes to see a show about people's lives intertwining on mass transportation, and Come From Away is sold out.
Don't see it if You're expecting the story to be as original and interesting as the fact that it's done a cappella.
See it if You like seeing theater that reflects the way people live & interact today
Don't see it if You're expecting more than a 90 minute slice of life that doesn't add up to anything
See it if You want to see Laura Benanti and Gavin Creel's fabulous performances, and some really clever set design
Don't see it if You don't like old-fashioned shows, or shows where half the numbers are just someone standing/sitting and singing
See it if If you're the kind of person who's interested in seeing a show called "Book of Merman", you'll probably enjoy it.
Don't see it if You're not at least passingly familiar with Ethel Merman and some of her biggest hits.
See it if If your reaction to reading the show description "yes, I'd love to watch a musical about the Intergalympics!"
Don't see it if You'd rather see something serious and thought-provoking than something fun and silly.
See it if You like slice-of-life shows, actors playing multiple roles, and fiddling.
Don't see it if You prefer a linear narrative to an anthology.
See it if You're interested in theater history and the role that the arts have played in the Jewish community
Don't see it if You prefer straightforward linear narratives
See it if You like the idea of a Harry Potter parody. If so, this is a clever and charming one.
Don't see it if You haven't read or don't like the books.
See it if You like innovatively staged, smart plays. Especially if you're going with family and want something "clean" everyone can enjoy.
Don't see it if I've got nothing. This is the rare show I would recommend universally.
