Don't see it if You want a genuine, heartfelt story exploring our immigration system.

Also This would've been a better play — adding music cheapened a lot of the emotional scenes. Everyone was so talented, but the score was upsettingly upbeat making the entire thing feel tone deaf. They had the entire pandemic — a year and a half — to look at this work and ask themselves, "Is this a story that needs to be told today? Are we centering the right voices here?" Don't see it if You dislike hip-hop, or audience participation.

See it if You're interested in a low-stakes, high energy, concert. Great vocals, beautiful costumes! Vibes are immaculate!

Don't see it if You want a more linear, story-based experience.

See it if you want a touching, heart breaking, honest look at a man's psyche after being diagnosed with HIV.

Don't see it if you're homophobic, don't like simulated sex on stage, or don't want to sob your way through the final 10 minutes.

Also There was a moment where it felt a little preachy, where the absurd world they created was broken as an actor has a "This Is The Point Of This Play" monologue (which I usually hate), but the final moment of the performance really won me over. Don't see it if you’re uninterested in queer stories. (The theatre was v hot and dizzying towards the end. Hopefully they fix this for future performances)

See it if you love strong women with quick wits.

Don't see it if you want a cohesive piece of theatre-- the show takes place in a mind, and like a mind, there's no logical connection btwn some scene jumps

See it if you're interested in dystopian takes on art, humanity, and life set to music with glitter.

Don't see it if you dislike EDM music, flashing lights, and being on your feet for 2 hours.

See it if you like the slow-paced classic Chekhov. The actors were good, and the whole thing felt very intimate, which worked.

Don't see it if you want an exciting night out. As a debut for the “Hunter Theatre Project,” it was a bore, and the sound design was hyped too much.

See it if You love ensemble work! And if you can keep up with a whirlwind of characters changing at the blink of an eye.

Don't see it if you can't handle emotionally charged stories, especially about 9/11.

See it if You love music, fun, colors, and diversity on stage!

Don't see it if You like period Shakespeare, or dislike musicals.

See it if you want to see an impressive technical feat; the sound, lights, and set are spectacular.

Don't see it if you want a cohesive storyline and a soundtrack that flows together. Good for kids, but it’s not great for the adults that’ll chaperone.

Also Act 1 was beautiful, and the songs were fun on their own, but having so many songwriters killed any semblance of fludity possible. All the songs have different vibes that just don’t work as a whole product.
Act 1 builds all this energy, so it’s disappointing that Act 2 was such a snooze (except Squidward’s solo, and Best Day Ever.) While visually stunning, the writing just isn’t good. Don't see it if You’re not a fan of glitter, audience participation, or intersectional feminism.

See it if you're a fan of classic disney. the designs are beautiful and the cast is talented. also there's a flying carpet.

Don't see it if you're interested in something new or thought provoking.

See it if you love gloria estefan and are interested in her music, life, and struggle.

Don't see it if you're someone who leaves after the first act. (seriously, act 2 is better than 1). if you don't like latin music or biographical musicals.

See it if you're a Hispanic living in NYC. it's filled with latinx pride, and a sense of community you can't get anywhere else. great writing.

Don't see it if you dislike mixing genres of music-- salsa and hip hop/rap and musical theater might not be for everyone, but this musical does it so well.

Also i wasn't a fan of the staging, in that they had a section of seats on stage. It didn't add anything to the performance (I've seen it twice, once sitting on stage and then not) and both times it was distracting from the actual story. See it if a clever retelling of a story we already know. the characters are complex and feel so real, they're written really well.

See it if you love american history. you like hip hop. you like musical theater. if you want to see a show with great writing and talented actors.

Don't see it if you can't keep up-- seriously, this show is fast paced, every line has information relevant to the plot. Blink and you'll miss something.

See it if you want to appreciate the work of great actors and designers. Honestly, the saving grace of this show is that it was beautiful to look at.

Don't see it if you're interested in an actual plot or storytelling. The entire 'story' could have been told in one song.
