If you like this person's taste, follow him!
See it if You are interested in the McCarthy era, but don't know much about the background. Or if you want to know about the first female senator.
Don't see it if You want mindless entertainment.
See it if You enjoy Jewish content and songs with a story, especially if you are older.
Don't see it if You are uncomfortable with a formerly religious Jew making fun of certain aspects of observance.
See it if This is a classic R & H musical, and the songs are great. Staging is creative & original. Ally Stroker is terrific as part of a good cast.
Don't see it if The only bad part was the ballet that opens Act 2. Because it is "theatre in the round" it is not for people who like frontal staging.
See it if You care about the events of 9/11 or if you like great ensemble acting. The cast members are on stage for the entire show!
Don't see it if You care more about big name performers.
See it if You want a fun night out. Beth Malone is super. Music is very upbeat. A lot of dancing, staged well. Good costumes and sound system.
Don't see it if You expect a revival of the 1960 show or the 1964 movie. -- the book of the show is very different. Or if you are turned off to immigrants.
See it if You are interested in Judaism or if you are Orthodox and can make fun of yourself. Parts were absolutely hilarious.
Don't see it if You are put off by references to BJs. Some of the material was so-so or in poor taste.
See it if Great production. If you know any Yiddish you will appreciate the jargon and idioms used. Much more "Jewish" than the English version.
Don't see it if The supertitles were very close to the original English script. They did not convey many of the refinements made to the book by the Yiddish.
See it if You like the music. Modern revival of the Ben Vereen show of 1972. Originally actors, the "players" are now circus performers.
Don't see it if Plot matters more to you than music and staging.
