Also Not true to the original story but a great adaptation of Roald Dahl's book. Fantastically talented kids, including the wonderful Isla Gie as Matilda in the performance we saw. The outstanding singing voice for me was Carly Thoms as Miss Honey. Elliot Harper is perfect as Miss Trunchbull, and far more athletic than others who have played the role. See it if You love the Drifters' music, polished performances, a multi-talented cast who portray an unbelievable range of characters between them.

See it if You just love musicals - any musicals - big production numbers, happy endings, light-hearted fluffy entertainment.

Don't see it if You want a live action version of the Disney film and thought the most interesting character was the mother. This is a whole new story.

Also The mother has been converted from a brave suffragette campaigner to a feeble stay at home mum with no purpose in her life. What a waste of a great role model and a historical context to the story.... Read more Read less
