If you like this person's taste, follow her!
See it if If you are a fan of the movie ( if not see it before you go— it will help you understand what happening in all the chaos and heavy accents)
Don't see it if If you have a delicate constitution. See below...
See it if You want to support the message of “Love is Love” and transgender actors in big roles on Broadway.
Don't see it if Olde English dialogue.. really? Didn’t think it was possible to ruin the fun of the Go-Gos music but here it is incarnate.
See it if Loved the story and was so impressed with Crudups execution-- riveted for the entire 90 minutes
Don't see it if Need the big splashy sets and costume changes to stay engaged. This is only a one man show.. though it didn't feel like it.
See it if You want to support a small theater company.
Don't see it if Expecting a linear story about a school shooter & his psychology or motivations.. mostly focuses on characters that are perpetrator adjacent
See it if You enjoy stories about Italian-American culture and ethnic traditions.
Don't see it if You need huge production value or multiple actors..essentially a one man show relaying stories about his (slightly crazy) Italian Family
See it if If you are die hard immersive theater fan. Pick a night where there is likely to be a small # of participants to increase # of encounters
Don't see it if You are expecting to be fully engaged, immersed or entertained for the 90 minute show time.
See it if You are super into tennis or sports psychology.. they are the only novel elements in an otherwise whateverish plot.
Don't see it if You don't want to see actors feigning tennis strokes, on a static set, for almost 2 hours while they deliver moderately interesting dialogue
See it if You enjoy immersive exp & murder mysteries. You work with your group to solve the mystery so it is active & participation is required.
Don't see it if You want a passive theater experience or are uncomfortable with campy & silly group activities like learning to throw shade or give face
See it if Fan of everything Disney or enjoy the backstories of how films are made. Similar to film "Saving Mr. Banks" about creation of Mary Poppins.
Don't see it if You couldn't care less about the Disney movie "Fantasia", or the creative processes of Walt Disney & Igor Stravinsky-- the only 2 characters
See it if You are up for interactive theater about the underbelly, drug addict scene of the 1960's and liked the movie "Panic in Needle Park".
Don't see it if It's not a passive exp--so if you don't want to interact with the actors/other audience members or feel uncomfortable improv-ing when asked
See it if If you are into experimental theater and want to support small companies with room for improvement. I honestly don't know what it was about.
Don't see it if If you expect to be entertained, moved or educated in the 100 minutes w/ointermission, that you are trapped like a rat in folding chair hell
See it if Though Glenn Close's vocals are "inconsistent", the classic & solid score helps to offset, & she is the true stage embodiment of Norma D!
Don't see it if If you are looking for the ornate and lush sets of previous performances you will be disappointed, the main stage presence is full orchestra
See it if You need to see Phillipa. The story is odd with some silly elements that actually made me laugh out loud but they were few and far between.
Don't see it if If you didn't enjoy the movie.. don't bother. Also I found the number of tween girls in the audience odd given some truly adult content.
See it if I think the cast were all amazing, but a little miscast in their roles. I love this play, but honestly did not love all the creative choices
Don't see it if If you are a Williams purist... just save yourself the agitation of enduring this interpretation.
See it if If you are interested in an ensemble cast & plot about friendships and how they evolve/arrest as people begin to get married and reproduce
Don't see it if It had some funny moments and some drama... my overall takeaway was that it was a nice change from the standard Broadway storylines
See it if If you are up for a non-traditional Broadway experience that's fun, uniquely staged & based on 1 tiny storyline from a dense Russian novel
Don't see it if The plot and score are the least interesting elements of this show.. and the repeated inculcation of who the characters are gets tedious.
Also Josh Grobin was a standout-- see it with him if you can
See it if Face it.. it's all about seeing Sutton Foster, up close and she is AMAZING!
Don't see it if If you want a big, splashy Broadway version of this classic musical. It's in a tiny theater with minimal sets & costumes--the cast makes it
See it if Celtic music & band are AMAZING. I didn't know the story & was interested to learn more about how people beyond NY/DC were impacted by 9/11
Don't see it if I have mixed sentiments & can recognize that I am not the right audience demographic...see below
See it if So it's about 2 Chicago World Fairs-- 40 years apart. The plot details the lives of people/families involved in both fairs, in various roles
Don't see it if Non-linear and goes nowhere pretty quick. The concept of failed aspirations is interesting but it drags for almost 2 hours & no intermission
See it if You want to watch an all female cast be melodramatic and hysterical for 1.5hours... it's a headache inducing, drain of a show
Don't see it if You do not enjoy reality TV dysfunction and conflict shows like Jerry Springer and Maury Povich...agitating and exhausting-- just don't!
See it if You are up for something clever & fun-chock full of NYC and MTA references. It's more of a series of separate, but linked individ storylines
Don't see it if You have some sort of irrational dislike for a cappella, serious vocal talent or classic NYC character struggle (actress, Wall Street banker
See it if Lots of teen themes but the primary plot focuses on the actions of a sweet and well intentioned kid that create a "sitch" beyond his control
Don't see it if Score is more pop than show tune & no song stuck out as particularly memorable. Heavy themes like teen suicide may not be for everyone.
See it if If you are not really looking for an immersive experience.. it's more of a low-budge representation of 1930's burlesque.
Don't see it if If you are looking for more than a passive viewing, semi-amateurish, theater experience.
See it if If you love Chekov or the socio-economic, waning aristocracy and class warfare themes associated with Russian Literature from the 1900's.
Don't see it if You want breezy.. It kind of has a high barrier for enjoyment that you'll need to work for with focus, patience & a little imagination.
See it if I appreciated the uniqueness of the sign language dialogue, and the opportunity to gain some perspective around hearing impaired challenges
Don't see it if Kinda dated & the interpretation of all female lead dialogue by the male lead became tedious & painful to endure.. slooooooow moving plot
See it if You are a fan of Buffets music and want to enjoy a little 2 hour tropical vacation in the middle of Manhattan
Don't see it if You are not a fan of the jukebox musical. Don't expect high-art.. expect to have a fun time & a huge sing along whilst enjoying a margarita.
See it if If you are such a music fan that you will sit through any live version and can tolerate a series of tribute band type covers of great songs
Don't see it if You are expecting artistry, a story or well crafted mash-ups of rock and classical pieces.
See it if If you are friends or family with the cast/developers--like the audience I was in seemed to be mostly comprised of.
Don't see it if Series of underdeveloped/overdramatic plots that never conclude & unlikable characters. Can't really tell you what the point was..just don't
See it if Your good with trekking out to Brooklyn... good vocal talent and live band.. still working through sound levels and mic feedback issues
Don't see it if The story is not particularly engaging & songs were all pretty similar--most did not advance the plot. Waaaaaay too long at 2.5 hr run time
See it if Cast is great and the story is compelling just by the nature of the famous Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire it is based on.
Don't see it if The fire itself ( bunch of crappy neon) was an underwhelming effect and anti-climatic given the whole plot builds towards it.
See it if If you are a patient audience member. You have to sit through a lot of set-up dialogue before it takes a hard turn & gets really interesting
Don't see it if If you need high activity or production value. It's truly one woman sitting in a dark theater, performing an hour and 45 min monologue.
See it if You are really into Victorian theater or are a super fan of any of the cast members. They did what they could with a really uneventful plot.
Don't see it if You need any real plot or resolution to keep you engaged. This is a 2.5 hour snoozefest with a bunch of odious and uninteresting characters.
See it if You enjoy high school themed plot elements like popularity, cliques, underage drinking,. the coven elements just seemed like an afterthought
Don't see it if If you are looking for compelling plot or production value.. This was kind of low budge and amateurish.
See it if So it's essentially about a self absorbed narcissist, forced to repeat his "day from hell" again and again--only evolvement breaks the cycle
Don't see it if If dark & twisted humor is not your thing.. it definitely deviates from the Broadway musical norm- but that's also why I enjoyed it so much!
See it if The whole cast is amazing, but Bette is so charming & compelling in her role as Dolly, that I was thoroughly absorbed & invested in her scam
Don't see it if Its an old timey, nostalgic musical.. so if if that's not your thing, or you are not all about seeing Bette before she leaves in Jan 2018.
See it if The leads are amazing performers of pretty mediocre material. I did learn a lot about the genesis of FDA labeling etc & the costumes-amazing
Don't see it if If you already know the story.. there's very little point beyond the need to see these Broadway stars live on stage.
See it if It's a play about the creation of a play (God of Vengeance) & the challenges of censorship, anti-semitism & lesbianism in the early 1900's
Don't see it if You need to stay engaged to follow the subtitles & language switches of the dialogue, as well as stomach the limited Holocaust content
See it if You enjoy dialogue intensive shows with cleverly crafted themes around marriage and society.
Don't see it if You need more visual stimulation than a pretty bare, one set stage and for a period piece, the gratuitious F bombs seem oddly out of place.
See it if If you're a fan of doo-wop, Jersey Boys, West Side Story and/or Guys and Dolls. It's sort of a comfy mix of all of them with a little murder
Don't see it if It's not a ground-breaking theater experience, but it's an easy show to consume and enjoy.
See it if If you're a fan of August Wilson's formula which is essentially a day in the life of the everyman. This iteration is focused on cab drivers.
Don't see it if It's a lot of sitting through dialogue around the everyday and mundane to get to a few interesting plot elements..pacing issues.
See it if If family dramas with a heavy dose of religious and political commentary is your thing. Similar to The Humans or August Osage County
Don't see it if If you can't bear to endure another play focused on family dysfunction.. even if well written & riveting. Ending could really use some work
See it if Immersive play loosely based on the book "A Wrinkle in Time" that was written by the resident librarian while she actually worked there.
Don't see it if Disjointed and awkward.. only minor elements of the actual book plot incorporated.
See it if You are a fan of crime show tv & can deal with the intensity of a disturbing plot focused on the details & aftermath of child abduction plot
Don't see it if They don't get rid of the score. The songs seemed arbitrary and did not help advance the plot at all.
See it if The vocal talent & musicians are impressive but story is not engaging-- too many elements just underdeveloped & the characters uninteresting
Don't see it if Heavy handed on the gospel, which is pretty impressively executed, but if that's not your thing--don't bother
See it if If you are curious to see a live staged version of the movie & retain your worship of Molly Ringwald from the 1980's John Hughes movie era
Don't see it if You expect to be as moved by the sadder plot elements and heartwrenching performances as those in the movie version.. does not translate.
See it if I still look very much forward to the stop-animation Christmas specials every year so I am totally biased, but if you are a fan--you will ❤️
Don't see it if If you are expecting production value anywhere close to that of Radio City (also owned by MSG)-- you will be disappointed.
See it if Story centers around 4 friends in a midwestern chapter of a Betty Crocker cooking club in the 1950's-all with their own challenges & secrets
Don't see it if If you are not up for a bit of nostalgia or light feminist commentary, wrapped in bouncy musical numbers.
See it if If you are a KC fan and just want to enjoy her ridiculous talent and charming personality.
Don't see it if If you are expecting a series of Broadway performance numbers. It's a concert format, so it's really only about her voice & personal stories
