If you like this person's taste, follow her!
See it if If you are a fan of movies like The Breakfast Club, you'll recognize a lot of the same teen angst identity themes in this dark & quirky plot
Don't see it if If you are not willing to suspend your beliefs a little and just take the ride.. you'll probably not enjoy this.
See it if You're into really intricate plots with twist, turns & cruel intentions-really clever dialogue and amazing cast with unbelievable chemistry
Don't see it if If you can't bear long monologues--it's very dialogue intensive and though it's really absorbing, it's kind of more "talky" than most.
See it if It's essentially 3, one act plays about a family of awful human beings at three distinct periods in their lives. Clever and entertaining!
Don't see it if If families behaving badly is not something you care to see played out in yet another show.
See it if Love the rap format and oftentimes clever lyrics.. but the story of our Founding Fathers, though interesting, not all that entertaining
Don't see it if If you need to sell an internal organ to buy a ticket..wait until they release a block (8-10 months in advance) to get a seat at face value
See it if Want to see the celebrity cast.. Personally I'd watch Nathan Lane read the phone book on stage for 3 hours but he only shows up 2 hours in
Don't see it if Too looong, uneventful & dated. 3 acts with 2 intermissions and it's pretty much just a 3 hour caricature of newspaper men from the 1930's
See it if If you want a comical perspective on what the 10 Commandments might be if they were updated for our present society; are a fan of Sean Hayes
Don't see it if Not a fan of 1 person shows with minimal production value or if you're offended by religious humor
See it if Plot presented/sequenced so the audience viscerally experiences the confusion and frustration of someone with a mentallydegenerative disease
Don't see it if Once I realized that my early confusion was intentionally engineered & was informing the message/plot I was witnessing-- I really enjoyed it
See it if Talented cast in an unfortunate & tedious interpretation of a Miller classic. Does not successfully capture hysteria/paranoia of original
Don't see it if Use of an industrial set & elements like stainless coffee urns in a story supposedly taking place in the 1600's will bother you as it did me
See it if 4 intertwined story lines that are all based on something having to do with the study of the brain or brain function yet not at all cerebral
Don't see it if The scene transitions were reminiscent of that recurring SNL skit about HS drama student productions with the cheesy percussion and choreo
See it if Insane asylum where you get to meet & have creepy interactions with red queen, white queen, white rabbit, hatter, 2 Alice's & Lewis Carroll
Don't see it if Key diff from other immersive: 1)You are directed from room to room- no free will like SNM = less FOMO 2)More intimate-only 15 "patients"
See it if I was completely engaged in the story but not at all moved by the plot or characters. Given the subject matter, this felt a little glossy
Don't see it if If you're expecting the intensity or educational empathy of a play like Ruined or the movie Hotel Rwanda-this is not it.
See it if It's amusing and joyful. The cast is great and there are plenty of laugh out loud elements. Beware the flour if are in the first row center
Don't see it if I am a huge fan of Sara Bareilles albums but the score was unremarkable and I couldn't recall any of the melodies on the way home.
See it if Enjoy the biopic musical format or are a fan of Old Hollywood. I thought the tap dancing was better than most--especially given small scale
Don't see it if I have never seen a James Cagney film but am now inspired to do so. Not having any familiarity with his films did not diminish my enjoyment!
See it if It's all about relationship drama and the public messaging required to minimize the reputational damage to the male leads oil tycoon family
Don't see it if It definitely has some pacing issues (at only 90 min), and there is some shock value vulgarity that seems gratuitous-needs some fine tuning.
See it if So it's in Olde English & I found all the character background, relationships & plot set-up in Act 1 painful to endure. Act 2 is better!
Don't see it if It's a well done show but it's not for everyone. The characters named for their personality traits (i.e.Back Biter) is the most amusing part
See it if You are 1 of 60 "guests" at a tropical resort in the 70's. The "play" is the experience and WTF interaction with the actors in various rooms
Don't see it if No real plot. Tons of interpretive dance and philosophical monologues. Need to be willing to explore & tolerate being touched/fed liquids
See it if So its mostly a family prepping for a holiday and complaining about in-laws, that morphs into blaming each other for the central plot point
Don't see it if There is interesting dialogue around the political/ethical implications of their shared family challenge..but it's a lot of blah in between
See it if Parallels plot of Wall Street movie-family owned company at the mercy of a big equity firm that is looking to liquidate it for $$- no mercy!
Don't see it if You're not a fan of the movie. Not for everyone-all the finance jargon could be tedious, the topic dry and morals R 4 sale. Amazing cast!
See it if You are into musical theater history..it's kinda biographical and illustrates the origin of jazz and "syncopation" as Broadway standards
Don't see it if If you can't stand another musical about a musical type show--this version has no real backstage drama and some pacing issues..waay too long
See it if Wanna see a depiction of the 1980's NYC yuppy culture with an MTV-esque synthesized score. I loved the 80's excess, music and costumes!
Don't see it if The only memorable songs are the covers of actual 80's hits. Does not successfully capture the complexity/intrigue/tension of the film/novel
See it if If you are up for another plot about an unhappy, dysfunctional family that is chock-full of biblical, literary and philosophical references
Don't see it if You are not up for plot points & dialogue dense with symbolism and arcane references. There are a # of "replay" moments that become tedious
See it if Pleasant enough theater experience. I'm not familiar enough with Shaws work to know if it was a good or bad representation but--entertaining
Don't see it if If you're over period dramas or can't tolerate another plot focused on class warfare and socio-economic issues
See it if So I loved it until I didn't. As a consultant, I was all in and amused by the representation, stereotypes and consulting terminology.
Don't see it if There are some pacing issues. It starts out clever and riveting --but the plot becomes more of the same to a point where it is just tedious
See it if You want to hear the best 70 pop songs, cleverly employed in a silly plot, and performed by a ridiculously pedigreed and talented cast.
Don't see it if This is not high art. Grab one of the theaters specialty fizzy blue theme drinks and enjoy the zanyness while you sing along and seat boogie
See it if You are a fan of Renee Fleming. The plot is intended to mimic those madcap film comedies of the 1930's.. but it falls short.
Don't see it if You primary motivation is to hear Renee Fleming sing.. She only performs one song.
See it if It's definitely has some laugh out loud moments and clever lyrics.. Silly ethnic and sexual preference themed humor. Cast is really amazing!
Don't see it if It felt a little dated and too loooong at almost 3 hours. It's also entirely sung-through like an operetta so it might not work for everyone
See it if If you like old Hollywood musicals in all their charm and cheez with great tap and waltz numbers, spangly costumes and a predictable plot
Don't see it if It's light & fluffy..charming even, but its not ground breaking stuff- so if you go to the theater for more than to just be entertained-pass
See it if You like one person, autobiographical stories with ethnic themes. Don't need to be Jewish or speak Hebrew to understand the jokes/references
Don't see it if Its not Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays caliber story, but it's a harmless 1 1/2 hours... Not hilarious, but amusing enough to invest the time
See it if So if you are a frequent theater goer. It's a nice change from standard Broadway formats and the use of audio technology is kinda cool
Don't see it if It's a one man show thats a little too long and runs 2 hours without intermission. It was interesting enough but not consistently engaging.
See it if You're a fan of the cast I guess. I am.. but I never really got intellectually or emotionally invested in these characters.
Don't see it if Seems like the personality quirks/disorders of female lead are supposed to be the point, but are not compelling enough to carry entire show
See it if Takes place in the dingy break room of a foundering Detroit auto factory & details the interpersonal relationships/struggles of 4 co-workers
Don't see it if You have no interest in the plight of a blue collar community on the brink
See it if Plot essentially takes place over a holiday dinner, where each member of a family has issues that are revealed/discussed to varying degrees
Don't see it if Yes, it's another story about family dynamics and drama --but I thought it was well done and an an engaging/entertaining 90 minutes.
See it if If you are a fan of those NY real estate shows you'll probably find enough to be amused and entertained by this 90 min show- cool staging.
Don't see it if If you're not drawn in by the "real estate porn" or have never ascribed life stories and personalities to people based on observation only
See it if The main storyline is kind of predictable but it's still really entertaining, with clever dialogue, true humor and is really well acted
Don't see it if I found the Italian stereotype humor really funny.. But this might not be to everyone's taste
See it if Glimpse into the subculture of the struggling artist scene. The characters span the creative spectrum of former artists to wanna-be artists
Don't see it if If you hang with creative types you'll appreciate the comedic plot elements of angst and narcissism of some "artists" and their "process"
See it if It's a revival, but it's definitely dated & have to assume that the Pulitzer it won was in a time when family dysfunction was a novel topic
Don't see it if I can definitely isolate & appreciate the caliber of the performances by a talented cast from the exceedingly unremarkable dialogue & plot
See it if It's not a new storyline but essentially, this production sweetly reinterprets the concept of there being a thin line between love and hate
Don't see it if It's more of an operetta format so much of the scenes are "sung through". The recurring soprano vibrato ballads can be tedious & grating.
See it if Riveting story about the psychological motivations & challenges of a hoarder, and the impact on those that love and try to help them
Don't see it if If clutter makes you anxious/ uncomfortable.. I also thought the ending did not do the play justice-- it takes a weird turn in the last 15
See it if I didn't hate it but I can't really find a single reason to recommend--there are much better ways to spend time/money on theater experiences
Don't see it if It's just a lot of silly slapstick with a contrived and lame plot about infidelity and revenge sex
See it if JTF plays all parts as his primary character tries to manage the reservations/personalities for a fine dining, celebrity chef NYC restaurant
Don't see it if This one man show is a nice change from same old Broadway formats; JTF is great. It's a light and fun 75 min if you can score a cheap ticket
See it if If you were a fan of those School House Rock segments..( ex: "How a Bill becomes a Law")-though this is NOT nearly as clever or entertaining
Don't see it if Unless you are dying to understand how the Federal Reserve Bank came to be in the early 1900's, reenacted in a low budg & teachy production.
See it if The first act take-away is awkward sex-ed type commentary. Second act is more a cautionary tale format with mom/daughter drama throughout.
Don't see it if It's kind of all over the place and so many plot elements were never fully developed or explained.. Just take a pass on this one
See it if If you are a frequent theater-goer & want a different experience. It's like you wandered into a backwoods barn where the fun is infectious
Don't see it if The plot premise is thin and done to death--but the bluegrass music, creative staging and charming/talented cast make it engaging and fun!
See it if Stereotypical characters in a plot built entirely around a silly deception concept, misunderstandings, mistaken identities and coincidences
Don't see it if It's corny, predictable and painful--just don't ....
See it if I was expecting Jhud to crush it (and she does), but didn't realize she would still pale in comparison to the other leads-- it's that good!
Don't see it if If the absence of the standard Broadway "table stakes" of amazing sets, splashy costumes and choreography are a deal-breaker for you
See it if You'd enjoy a plot about a family on/below the poverty line, dealing with race and financial struggles. Some really impressive performances.
Don't see it if You are looking for polish.. It's a really low budget production in a middle school theater-- so if you can be ok with that-- go see it!
See it if You are into nostalgic/memoir theater or would enjoy the dialect and antics of a Italian-American NYC tenement family in the late 1970's.
Don't see it if You are over shows that primarily focus on family dysfunction or ethic humor/stereotypes --though this is a particularly endearing version
See it if You enjoy plots focused on the heightened family drama created by big life event, like a wedding, with the predictable cultural clash humor.
Don't see it if You find severe plot/tonal twists disconcerting or unforgivable. The traditional ceremonial elements are charming unless you are a xenophobe
See it if Its a family dynamics and delusion story. There are elements that can feel a little "Lifetime" movie-ish, but I was completely invested
Don't see it if You are not into really intimate productions. I sat in the front row and felt like I was truly sitting in the family 70's decor living room.
See it if You are a Seinfeld fan. I saw it with "George Costanza" in the lead role and it felt like I was watching a live version of Seinfeld sitcom
Don't see it if You are not a fan of Larry David's humor... Or if you choose the enjoy Seinfeld in syndication instead of on a Broadway stage-- it's cheaper
