Cult classic, Kitchy, Raunchy, Hilarious

See it if Fun revival of raunchy 70s Cult Classic takeoff on B prison movies. A piece of theater history. Great cast brings it to life! Lotsa laughs!

Don't see it if you don't like absurdist humor and graphic sex scenes. Tom Eyen's script is a little dated but still iconoclastic.

Somewhat predictable, Great acting, Charming, Clever, Funny

See it if Debra Jo Rupp is a charmer who gives a nuanced & often hilarious performance. Some writing is very funny, but might not work as well w/o her

Don't see it if Serious topic is presented in a light & fluffy way, so I wouldn't recommend if you want something HEAVY, like an Arthur Miller.

Funny, Dated, Disappointing, Insipid, Overrated

See it if IF u absolutely loved the movie, u might like this. But I'm no fan of re-enactments of movies. No emotional engagement. Totally predictable!

Don't see it if you want some depth of ideas. Performances & production values are mostly terrific, but the story is still just glamorized sophomoric bs.

Historic, Absurdist, Great acting, Stylized, Still relevant

See it if Fastidious revival of ABSURDIST play from 1970. Rare chance to see a piece of history! Themes of guns & toxic masculinity still relevant.

Don't see it if if you don't like ABSURDISM or want something current. Some didn't understand it. It's very stylized & a bit heavy handed, but still a gem.

Entertaining, Funny, Great choreography!, Insipid, Overrated

See it if Hilariously entertaining, but without much substance. Great performances, gorgeous costumes, but no emotional journey. Too light for me!

Don't see it if See if you like Mamma Mia or other juke box musicals (I don't) HoH aspires to be camp like SOMETHING ROTTEN, but falls short esp. the score.

Thought-provoking, Great acting, Relevant, Intense, Resonant

See it if you want to see a solid, serious play that successfully explores CLASSISM in society, particularly in university admission/scholarships.

Don't see it if you want light comedy. There is some humor & terrific acting, but it's mostly serious & may be just a few minutes too long. Still rewarding.

Cliched, Confusing, Disappointing, Slow, Dull

See it if BlahBlahBlah... More like a TED Talk than a play because its all VERBIAGE! It's almost not a play because there's no emotional journey.

Don't see it if unless you want to drown in words. Some deep thoughts on feminism, racism, & change, but it might be more interesting to read as a thesis.

Also Can't recommend this one even though I love Jayne Houdyshell and Richa... Read more Read less

Great acting, Great writing, Intelligent, Profound, Historic

See it if Exquisite, nuanced acting brings this historic play to life in minimalist setting. Truly captures the essence of early days of AIDS crisis.

Don't see it if Unfortunately, the minimalist setting doesn't serve the play well. Tragic subject might make some uncomfortable. Not a light evening.

Visually beautiful, Clever, Ambitious, Great singing, Slow

See it if you want to see a visually opulent, traditionally structured musical. There are a few show-stopping performances, but in general it's bland.

Don't see it if you are looking for cutting edge excitement or new ideas. The only NEW thing is the set design/video walls which is the best I've ever seen!

Intelligent, Profound, Still relevant, Thought-provoking, Heart breaking

See it if you want to watch The Olympics of Acting! You love Harvey & you want to see his classic play cut right to the quick yet still be relevant.

Don't see it if You're NOT interested in gay lives & universal human issues from before gay rights was a thing. Not as powerful as original, but still great

Ambitious, Clever, Funny, Great acting, Overrated

See it if you want to expand your thinking on LGBTQ issues. Very thought provoking. But unfortunately the writing never got me emotionally engaged.

Don't see it if If you are not interested in LGBTQ issues. The play has a thought provoking inter-generational premise, but the writing fell short.

Great acting, Hilarious, Entertaining, Refreshing, Short

See it if you want to see a surprisingly good One Act play performed in an unlikely venue. The play is funny, & the acting is excellent and hilarious

Don't see it if you're looking for fancy production values, or the 2 drink minimum is going to bother you. Otherwise, there's no reason NOT to see it!

Original, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Clever, Intelligent

See it if you want a beautifully acted, intriguing and disturbing play that makes you question what defines pleasure in a desolate dystopian world.

Don't see it if you're looking for light entertainment. This play is not FUN & not PERFECT. But critics got it wrong! Not FUN doesn't equal not WORTHY!

Clever, Entertaining, Cliched, Overrated, Too dark for kids

See it if you love musicals, and/or you have children (not too young) who love the book. Cleverly staged & skillfully acted & sung, but just too dark.

Don't see it if if you want a happy theme. I don't love this book and I found it a little nightmarish for young children, altho the actors are wonderful.

Clever, Delightful, Enchanting, Funny, Great acting

See it if you want to see a simple but delightful play based on a story from THE 1001 Arabian Nights. The actors were great & comedy played perfectly!

Don't see it if you're expecting typical Strindberg. This is clever & light & funny. Appropriate for children, but a little too long with no intermission.

Wonderful performances, Insipid script, Disappointing, Cliched, Obvious stereotypes

See it if You're willing to see wonderful singer-dancers play stereotypes in a superficial musical. Some fun moments, but there's no emotional journey

Don't see it if You want a musical with substance that doesn't talk down to you. Smug retelling of women's changing roles in 60s & 70s. Nothing new here.

Great singers, Great set design, Disappointing, Cliched, Superficial

See it if You want to see a well executed, polished piece of entertainment. The cast is terrific, but the premise is cliche and totally predictable

Don't see it if you want to care about the characters in a musical with a strong book. Not the actors fault, but I actually didn't care who lived & who died

Dated, Historic, Thought-provoking, Uneven, Miscast

See it if you want to revisit an iconic, groundbreaking play that reminds us of how much the world is changing. Fascinating but miscast period piece.

Clever, Resonant, Great ensemble acting, Abstract, Disturbing

See it if You like seeing the human cost of war. No set, very abstract, just brilliant ensemble acting. True to the book which is harsh.

Don't see it if Sounds of gunfire and explosions will upset you. It's not a "FUN" show. More like an important history lesson.

Well intentioned, Disappointing, Cliched, Amateurish, Unsophisticated

See it if You like to see Works in Progress, you don't mind big holes in the plot, & songs that don't push the emotional journey forward. No chemistry

Don't see it if You're expecting polished, professional theater! Good idea, but young, energetic (somewhat skilled) cast is mis-directed. Needs play doctor.

See it if You love the cast members and you don't mind melodrama.

Don't see it if You want an emotional experience.

Thought-provoking, Great writing, Epic, Intelligent, Enchanting

See it if I felt I'd been transported to another time/place, & I came away w/ knowledge as if I had lived a whole other lifetime. Epic writing/acting!

Cliched, Predictable, Funny, Banal, Disappointing

See it if you're a big fan of Matthew Perry. There are some interesting moments & a few laughs, but the play itself doesn't sustain any bigger ideas
