See it if This is an absolute must for all Harry Potter fans. Excellent spoof with love. Little satire that could. I’ve seen it twice, 2 years apart.
Don't see it if You don’t know your Harry that well. It’s not that it’s confusing, you just won’t get the jokes nearly as well.
See it if You hate the original Oklahoma and are swayed by what is supposedly feminist. You like more laid back country music, and the cast.
Don't see it if If you will miss the soaring melodies of R&H. Attempting to modernize while having a plot reliant on OK becoming a state was too distracting
See it if You love epic performances from a young ensemble cast inc. wonderful singing, great technical playwriting, a timely plot, or great staging.
Don't see it if If you’re not going to have an open mind to recieve the plot. Slight violence and sexual themes are explored as an essential part.
See it if I suppose if you weren’t there to analyze and you really wanted to see another O’Neill production? I went for the play I didn't know well.
Don't see it if You want 2 hours 40 min to feel quick. Very few moments in this show managed to grab me. The directing choices were incredibly distracting.
See it if You have interest in the realities of our school systems and/or like powerful provoking theatre. Sent me running for the bathroom in tears.
Don't see it if You have no patience for a play that takes time to make its point. The beginning is deceptively slow. You prefer happy, easy stories.
See it if Um, Glenn Close. That's really enough. She's wonderful. But the show is great. Great use of set, strong cast, just a proper musical.
Don't see it if You really can't handle Webber. But I'm not really a fan and I was cool. You don't like the darkness of the story. You don't like projection
See it if You want a boss cast with a ton of experience doing August Wilson. It was so cohesive, it was a joy to watch. Entertaining and provocative.
Don't see it if You're not a fan of serious, realism driven plays. You don't enjoy period pieces.
See it if Great opportunity for the public to see the songwriters stripped down. New work, simply presented, let's the music and lyrics fly. Well done
Don't see it if You'd rather go for anything full out or plot driven. But still, strong change of pace, opportunity for real feedback. Nice refreshments.
See it if ORIG PROD- Why is this back? It bored me as a child. I wanted to like the costumes/dance, but it didn't impress me. I was new too, about 7.
Don't see it if American in Paris, Phantom, Les Mis, Wicked, King and I, Chicago, Rockettes, Fiddler, Lion King or Matilda are better "Classic" musicals.
See it if You want a musical that takes more risk in theme than production. Solid entertainment. Much better costumes than music. Mingo Jr standout.
Don't see it if You're looking to be really challenged. Uneven writing. Felt like some verses were missing. Predictable. Occasional lazy staging. Still fun.
See it if My real reviewers: Good for 2-6yrs old, I'd say. Reminds you of why you like theatre. Simple, effective, staging. Exciting puppets for kids.
Don't see it if Maybe "scary" puppets. Only an hour, but 1 story made aud. a little restless. They loved the classic Caterpillar tale, had their lines down.
See it if If you like modern approaches to Shakespeare. Good introduction to Midsummer. Very entertaining, competent cast. Like seeing the doubling.
Don't see it if If you shy from audience participation. Also, some choices I've seen. Little bit on the nose. Depends on your comedic taste. Accent issues.
See it if For Bashor. Beautiful voice. The best part of this. To support new musicals. You don't mind an unfocused, clichéd book. Tried to do too much
Don't see it if I wanted a larger cast, and more focus on what was so special about NORA. She could have been any long-suffering partner of a famous writer.
See it if You like the cast, the dancing, and of course the classic songs. Not my fav Cole Porter, but certainly well done.
Don't see it if You're looking for more innovation, edge, and/or a modern musical. This is far more classic and charming.
See it if You want to support a young cast doing theatre with purpose. Strong, purposeful themes of coping with sexual assault. Strong lead chemistry.
Don't see it if It just had WAY too many little problems I wanted to fix. Set turning was monotonous, the plot structure needs a lot of work. Slow paced!
See it if You want to see great child stars. Nicely crafted uncluttered production of a classic. Lets the kids do their thing. Little slow, but FUN!!
Don't see it if You're in town briefly I guess. You'd rather go for something darker. Children annoy you?
See it if You know and like your literary history/Oscar Wilde/Hare. Everett is as complete as expected. Plot isn't overly complex, but the themes are.
Don't see it if You're not willing to pay attention to keep up with the witty dialogue. Definite nudity, sexual themes and innuendo. You're homophobic.
See it if You're interested in history, the 2 main figures and New York. You like projects with purpose. The movement and dance was good.
Don't see it if You're looking for the lighter, flashier play or musical. You're not willing to put up with minimalist production values.
See it if You're looking for a reality check and a beautifully acted play that will stay with you for days. Heavy subject matter is entirely worth it.
Don't see it if You can't deal with war and relationship drama. Brace yourself for the intense.
See it if Obviously if you love Monty Python, but even if you don't know them or the movie that well. It's just so delightfully silly with great songs
Don't see it if If you have to take your musicals way too seriously. Nah, I take it back- get over yourself and go. Way too much fun.
See it if For an epic amount of well-constructed British Theatre. So much worked.
Don't see it if You don't like plays, family stories, or you don't want to sit for a long time.
See it if Shakespeare fan? RUN. Part of the 400th anniv; here's an epic staging/small cast version of 4 plays in one night! Worth it, it's really fun!
Don't see it if It's REALLY LONG. It's famous parts of 4 plays written in 1599. Eat before, or check out their dinner. Brush up on plots. Not for a newbie.
See it if (Saw in London) For Helen Mirren alone, if not the rest of the cast. She portrays her Majesty with such respect and intelligence. Excellent!
Don't see it if If you don't care to learn about/didn't live through these eras. It's an education in modern British history seen through the Queen's eyes.
See it if Intelligent one man show about his love affair with magic and all things nerdy, especially Batman. Great storyteller.
Don't see it if Looking for grand tricks or a big show. It doesn't need much.
See it if You like historical drama, something that will rip your heart out, and fantastic acting. Sands, Dancy, and Gaines were wonderful. Classic.
Don't see it if You don't want to hear about war. But really, I saw it 3 times. And I only do that with certain shows.
See it if If you like smallish scale musicals with modern songs, great storytelling, and endless heart. This is a rollercoaster in the best sense.
Don't see it if It low-key triggered me with memories of 9/11, and I was only an everyday senior in HS. It’s very emotional, so I only caution in that sense
See it if You’re interested in timely political plots, with a site-specific like look, and an epic diverse ensemble fully invested in the production.
Don't see it if You don’t like any violence, yelling, or struggle with fog machines. The play is long, but it flies by. There’s almost no reason not to see.
See it if If you like hugely complex, absorbing, unusual, physical, funny independent theater that won’t let go for a full 8 hours- inc. intermissions
Don't see it if You don’t like Great Gatsby the novel, or intensely literary based work. If the long running time might cause you problems.(90 min dinner.)
See it if You like the movie, but would prefer a more realistic villain. For Ramin as Gleb. Impressive production elements. Christy is a dear ingenue.
Don't see it if You're unimpressed by big musicals. The set needs projections for fast changes. I liked it. Some think it lazy. The ending also divided aud.
See it if Bette Midler pulled it off quite well. I haven't seen such a traditional old school style musical in a forever. Audience had a great time!
Don't see it if You're bored of classic theatre and you'd rather something more ground-breaking.
See it if You love slightly interactive theatre in a more unique space and are willing to go on an unsettling journey with beautiful storytelling.
Don't see it if You don't like to be so close to the action. You don't understand Scottish accents. The plot turns quickly. You don't like musicals.
See it if You're looking for a fresh take on an older play, revived for the right period. You want to be engaged.
Don't see it if You don't like long plays. You're not willing to go on a journey with them.
See it if You like a modern 3-person living room drama with well formed characters and stakes. Form is more traditional; relationships are complex.
Don't see it if Possible trigger for alcoholism and mental-illness. If strong language or sex offends. Plot could use some adjustment. Not lighthearted.
See it if To understand T&C. Language was clear, Glover, Stoll, and Casella were my favs. Updated setting translated well. Found some good comedy.
Don't see it if Loud gun shots, a lot of poor stage combat, boring sets, flat acting, long plays, less than great plot execution by Shakespeare annoys you.
See it if You read this in school and now want to see it actually produced. Good staging. Moments/music were updated well. Comedic parts resonated.
Don't see it if If you're picky about pace. Parts dragged a bit despite the desperation of the stakes. Read a blurb about the context of themes first.
See it if For a modern dress/style show. Excellent set/clever staging. Strong ensemble.
Don't see it if You don't have a solid grasp on R&J. Only 90 min/doubling could cause confusion. Slightly uneven acting. Leads struggle with teen emotions.
See it if You know you're too attached to social media. Felt like my facebook news feed had come to life. Good set, use of music, very clever subtext.
Don't see it if You want a trad. "well made play" with a definite end. Difficult structure tries to weave full characters in with the trivial internet posts
See it if You like theatre with purpose. Beautifully acted punch in the gut reality. These women will not let each other/us down. Ensemble is a force.
Don't see it if You can't handle the subject matter. Not so explicitly violent as might be expected, but war is entirely present. Worth overcoming qualms.
See it if You like well-constructed solo performances out to change the world. Even if you don't "like" rap. Strong presentation, very interesting!
Don't see it if You want a more traditional linear play. You avoid political theatre. You don't like your views being challenged.
See it if You like FUN. It's fluffy in the best way. Cast rocks it across the board. Great example of a classic broadway romance. Levi is way too cute
Don't see it if You're looking for modern. It's not, but it's not trying to be either. You want massive depth. You insist on knowing a lot of songs before.
See it if (Saw in Edinburgh) You really insist on seeing a different take on this Greek classic. Go see other productions if you like Van Hove.
Don't see it if Yea, skip this one. Zero intensity, pace was horrible. I love Antigone. I was really bored. Even Binoche's talent can't save it. Set was ok.
See it if Core audience is mothers. I still found it very entertaining, humor is wider-spread. Hovers btw stand-up and a play, uses full stage well.
Don't see it if You fail to see any humor in the trials of motherhood. You write it off as complaints. You're looking for a more intense, comprehensive play
See it if 5 extra points went to Szot's voice. O'Hara, Burnstein, and this classic music are all great, but Paulo easily steals the show. Fantastic.
Don't see it if You're not a Rogers and Hammerstein fan. You're looking for modern theatre. This is the well-done classic everyone should see at least once.
See it if No surprise basically every one of the original "boys" in this cast is now famous. Phenomenal ensemble, wonderful writing. Incredible show.
Don't see it if You don't like plays or have trouble with accents. Trigger warning for accusations of sexual misconduct. Otherwise wonderful.
See it if 3 Actor cast and set were the best parts. Bio sketch of Gorey at different ages. Difficult to make the presentational style flow smoothly.
Don't see it if If you have no interest in learning about Gorey or dislike a lot of narration and direct address. Could have been better AND far worse.
See it if Great cast plays multiple parts with multiple accents just about flawlessly intertwined. Engaging story, interestingly staged with no fuss.
Don't see it if If you don't want to pay attention. Considering it's a play about engaging our brains and how they work, it will make you keep up.
See it if Really is as hysterical as the hype. Mel Brooks is just as much of a genius with theatre. Excellent cast, great songs, great staging.
Don't see it if You're easily offended. They're trying to find the worst show ever written in the plot, so it will offend.
See it if You like a unique experience with delightful characters told witha bit of audience participation. Excellent and delightful. Laughed a lot.
Don't see it if You want Rogers and Hammerstein. Music isn't big and overly memorable. Great intimate experience instead.
