Great singing, Great acting, Entertaining, Delightful, Clever

See it if You like good musical theater - and this was good musical theater right here in New Brunswick, New Jersey

Don't see it if you can't relate to "Jewish folks from Brooklyn". It definitely leans that way. Read more

Great second act, Confused book, Weak direction, Great singing, Schizophrenic

See it if you don't mind sitting through a 1st act that is, hopefully, going to be largely scrapped for an incredibly good second act.

Don't see it if a meandering mess of a first act is something you cannot recover from or if a messy, soul crushing relationship would be triggering Read more

Nostalgic, Great staging, Great singing, Funny, Entertaining

See it if If you loved the movie (it is pretty faithful,) have good memories of bungalow colony summers, for very talented lead actress performance.

Don't see it if You want a more cohesive story-there is a lot going on. You want a more consistent score-some songs are great, some songs are just okay. Read more

Entertaining, Great singing

See it if a wonderful lead performance by Jackie Burns in a nice small musical about a woman wanting more. a period piece.

Don't see it if want a big story instead of just a family/women coming into her own.

Great sets, Slow, Great singing, Great acting, Entertaining

See it if To witness Jackie Burns in her element leading a fantastic and energetic cast with some very nice songs and creative sets

Don't see it if Expecting sufficient character development and consistently great songs to support an otherwise fairly simple plot

Sweet, Nostalgic, Romantic, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if You enjoy being transported back in time to a sweet story told simply. Performances are very good - sound system not so much.

Don't see it if If you do not like seeing musicals in the development phase - lots of good happening her but still a wip.

Great acting, Romantic, Great staging, Great singing, Enchanting

See it if you love a romantic story where life throws obstacles into the mix. See it if you lived and loved the sixties and would do it again!

Don't see it if you can't handle romance and nostagia. or if the summer of '69 brings back bad vibes..or if you can't relate to the free love generation. Read more

Great acting, Great staging, Great singing, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if You enjoy musicals and a look back in time (1969) reflecting on reactions to a historic event. Amusing look at summer in a bungalow colomy.

Don't see it if Musicals are not your thing.

"It’s the historic walk that affects Pearl most. In 'Out of This World,' her first (of six) solos, she addresses an astronaut as her way of recognizing she’s wants to take her own adventurous walk. That longing is what inspirits this new and imposing work."

"From its opening juxtaposition promise summer amid quaint woodland cabins and riotous national tumult, A Walk On the Moon throws down its own gauntlet, inviting audiences to wonder how the era’s broad social changes will manifest amid the Kantrowitzes and their clan. "

"Even though the show’s run time is two and a half hours, there’s never a lag. The excellent cast of fourteen assures something is always going on, from the four couples’ fun dancing, to the energetic mahjongg games, to the teenagers testing their wings."

"As pleasant as Sheryl Kaller’s production of 'A Walk on the Moon' is, and as vibrant as Jackie Burns’s performance is in the lead role, the musical currently playing at New Brunswick’s George Street Playhouse can’t escape being old-fashioned in ways that make it seem dated rather than nostalgic."

"For all the special effects, this show touches the audience by inviting them to think about the treatment of women in society, even today; about the life choices made by these characters, and perhaps about their own. "
