About the show

Luna Stage presents the world premiere of this fantastical drama about Johanna Stern, the young woman who will go on to become Hannah Arendt, one of the most important 20th century philosophers. More…

From the show:

Johanna Stern will become one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century. But at the moment, no one has heard of her, or even of the name she writes under, Hannah Arendt. She is merely a graduate student with one book under her belt. Karl Frick is a young officer, recently promoted from the criminal police force to the political police force, a new division in 1933 Berlin. His first interrogation in this new job promises to be his most challenging one. A fantastical drama about one of our deepest thinkers, inspired by real events.

Avg Score

Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great acting, Absorbing, Clever

See it if You want to experience an intellectual, thought-provoking piece of theater about a brilliant philosopher!

Don't see it if you’re not into historical pieces. There is a lot of dramaturgical information in the theater’s lobby that delves into the background info.

Relevant, Intelligent, Intense, Insipid, Ambitious

See it if You enjoy quality theatre. The writing was very thought provoking and the production was staged very well for the space.

Don't see it if You prefer to be “spoon-fed” a narrative. The script is more conceptual than plot driven so if you don’t want to think stay home.

During previews
Clever, Relevant, Thought-provoking, Great writing, Absorbing

See it if you want to see a well written historical drama about Hannah Arendt's 1933 arrest and encounter with her jailor that speaks to our times.

Don't see it if if you are not interested in plays about that period.

During previews
Great writing, Profound, Masterful, Great acting, Exquisite

See it if set in 1933, You will feel the stress, the fear and the compassion brought on by the baiting trickier in the interviews.

Don't see it if You you don’t want to feel your emotions
