See it if You love Sondheim shows, dark musicals, and history. It's a very intelligent show.
Don't see it if If dark shows make you uncomfortable. It's also not a fully staged production.
See it if you're a history buff and/or you're ok laughing at the slightly uncouth.
Don't see it if you're non a fan of concert-style productions or subject matter that veers towards the more edgy end of the spectrum.
See it if a Sondheim fan's delight. Clifton Duncan a fine Balladeer. Steven Pasquale's Booth was great. Cory Smith was a good Oswald but too handsome
Don't see it if Steven Boyer nailed Hinckley. Erin Markey and Victoria Clark were hilarious. A musical pastiche with clever lyrics
See it if you enjoy a very intelligent musical by Sondheim. Simple but effective staging. Great casting.
Don't see it if you feel uncomfortable about the subject of assassination in a musical. This is why I never saw the original show.
See it if You like to mix theater, history and politics or want to see a non-traditional musical.
Don't see it if You are looking for elaborate costumes, sets or a show for the kids.
See it if It ever plays again. It's very well thought out and written. I had no prior experience going in and I did like it.
Don't see it if You don't like guns or humor surrounding the famous assassins of our time.
See it if you like your musical theatre to provoke and challenge, not only amuse and entertain (though Assassins does these as well). Excellent cast.
Don't see it if you prefer old-fashioned musicals with simple plots and characters, with no confrontation and the fourth wall firmly in place.
See it if you want to hear some great voices singing a terrific Sondheim score. Minimal staging, but it all works.
Don't see it if you are bothered by the subject matter and/or gunshots.
