About the show

A mother always knows when something is wrong. When Alice (Thomas) notices her beloved husband Bill has returned home on edge after a tennis match with their son, she grows suspicious and springs into action. Determined to piece together the puzzle, she invites her son and daughter-in-law over for drinks and dessert. Sidesplitting chaos ensues as Alice digs for the truth, resulting in even more honesty than anyone expected. A story of long-term love and marriage… for better…and for worse.

Funny, Entertaining, Clever, Great acting, Delightful

Cliched, Funny, Dated, Banal, Entertaining

See it if you have very conventional views of marriage and you don't mind profanity. Also see it if you like kitschy acting.

Don't see it if you are looking for original ideas. Also if you prefer acting above the sitcom level avoid this show.

Dated, Slow, Boring, Excruciating

See it if you are a straight middle aged person who doesn't mind falling asleep during a show.

Don't see it if you want to see a thought provoking, entertaining piece of theatre

During previews
Cliched, Sitcom-y, Boring, Uninspired, Superficial

See it if you enjoy bad sitcoms.

Don't see it if you like even a modicum of subtlety or humanity in your storytelling.

Toward the end, there's a jarring turn toward pathos, and though this is David Saint's third time directing the materi...

As I sat there stone-faced, I could only conclude that this was because they found tickly what felt to me like the onset of ec...

"'Clever Little Lies' is nothing if not well-crafted...'Clever Little Lies' exists in that dreamscape of First World problems in which no issue is more pressing than the preservation of family under threat from a limber lover. It’s M&Ms, a guilty pleasure."
