Amy Heckerling takes us back to 90s Beverly Hills with this musical version of her beloved film "Clueless," a modern spin on Jane Austen’s "Emma." More…
With her singular voice, she gives us a score that reimagines 90s hits into parodies and yearning monologues for her lovesick characters. Director Kristin Hanggi ("Rock of Ages") and choreographer Kelly Devine ("Come from Away") drive this fresh take on the story of Cher, a girl so psychotically optimistic she can’t see that her bungling attempts at playing Cupid disguise her own fashion-plated isolation.
See it if you'd like to see what happens when someone who wrote an excellent screenplay is unable to translate it into a compelling stage musical.
Don't see it if you like the movie Clueless, or you value the craft of lyric writing.
See it if Talented cast with energy abounding; some very funny moments; great dancers make the most of a small stage.
Don't see it if Stereotyped personalities; not the right venue for the play, stage too small; vapid; nothing new here but cast seems to be having fun.
See it if you were in HS in the 90's and loved the music; you enjoy fluffy musicals with cute costumes and boundless energy, or are a fan of Clueless
Don't see it if you are not a musical fan in general, you dislike "formulaic" musicals and especially dislike the tunes of the 90's.
See it if Successful movie to musical adaptation bringing 90s high school energy and songs to the stage. Dove Cameron shines.
Don't see it if You cannot tolerate adaptation of 90s song lyrics to tell the story, didn’t like the 90s, or think this theme has been done before.
See it if You love ‘90s music. Dove Cameron was adorable. Dave Thomas Brown was crush-worthy. Lively musical numbers. Cute costumes.
Don't see it if Overly miced. Using ‘90s songs with new lyrics is kind of meh if you don’t like the music. Outdated and promotes over-consumption.
See it if You like frenetic motion, it never stops, even if you want it to. Gorgeous costumes. Small stage and constant shuffle of sets. Follows film
Don't see it if You cant understand why anyone would vitiate the lyrics from the best songs of the 90's. You thought the film's narrative was slim.
See it if you like high school kids' shows. If you like silly remarks, short scenes, one liners.
Don't see it if you saw the movie...that is enough. Musical has lots of hip hop type dancing, empty headed high school kids. Very repetitious.
See it if fun, buoyant, talented cast in great costumes & voice on snazzy stage appeals. Nostalgia for '90s hit tunes will kick in, lyrics regardless!
Don't see it if you're not up to having a blast?! This sweeps you away in every sense. Great antidote if you're feeling down! Maybe not knowing movie helps?
See it if It’s Clueless, which steals your heart. If you’re okay that it’s not Alicia Silverstone (and I’m not), and can see fun in a silly story.
Don't see it if You want the movie, don’t like the ‘90’s in general, think you’re seeing an original musical, or want more than a fun light comedy. It’s ok.
See it if you loved the movie. Amy Heckerling herself wrote the book and the lyrics to songs from the 90s for the score. Loved it!!
Don't see it if you were not a fan of the 1995 film or prefer serious subjects in musicals
See it if you have to see every jukebox musical out there. 90's music with what can only be called parody lyrics, banal choreography adequate sining
Don't see it if you want an enjoyable evening in the theater. Act one was bad but act two was even worse
See it if You love the movie 'Clueless' or you HAVE to see Dove Cameron live. Take your teenage girls who love the movie. Go for pure fun.
Don't see it if You think this is a new musical - It is NOT!! Watch the movie - if that's not for you, this isn't for you. Maybe not for the purists.
See it if You love the movie, love the 90’s or live the Disney star dove Cameron. Nostalgic costumes and references to 90’s culture are fun
Don't see it if You LOVE the movie-the actors try but don’trise to the challenge. music is cobbled together lyrics to 90’s songs Too much breaking 4th wall
See it if you are a fan of the movie, the 1990's, or want to see a PG rated musical sprinkled with naughty jokes. These actors can dance!
Don't see it if you don't like the teenage musical genre. It lacks any edginess and is just fluff. Doubtful that it will go to Broadway. Wigs are terrible.
See it if You're OK with unoriginal music, 90s pop hits with lyrics rewritten like Weird Al without a sense of humor. As if!
Don't see it if You want your actors to have chemistry. The romances we're romantic. The friendships we're friendly.
See it if you're missing '90s music (exactly!) so much - you're willing to hear it being butchered through 2.5 hours of cliched inane lyrics & acting
Don't see it if you're looking for cleverness, originality, an actual story, characters to like, in a show that's not even good enough to be camp. Stay away
See it if you want a rather shallow look back at the 90's that borrows a lot of tunes from that era but with new, often unsuccessful lyrics.
Don't see it if you want a well-structured musical comedy with stakes -- this seems to meander and ultimately it's hard to care.
See it if You want a high-octane, fast-paced romp and love watching talented young people singing and dancing their hearts out.
Don't see it if You need a strong and imaginative story line. There is not much in the way of character development and the ending is predictable.
See it if you enjoyed the film & are ok with a flimsy musical that's in on its own joke. It's almost full parody. Roll with your homies, & have fun!
Don't see it if you dislike musicals that utilize rewritten lyrics to well-known pop songs, tongue-firmly-in-cheek comedies, or hate the 90s to early 2000s.
See it if A charming romp thru h.s. in the 90's with a good heart & a little edge. Cute, bright, peppy staging & set design. Fun reuse of 90's songs.
Don't see it if Lighter musicals are not for you. You can't relate to teens issues and 90's songs.
