Entertaining, Relevant, Cliched, Author's vanity piece

See it if you want theater about the issues of older folks that is not patronizing.

Don't see it if You expect any deep character exploration. Most of the ideas and characters are trite. Read more

Tries to be provocative, Quirky, Curiousity, Odd, Light humor

See it if You enjoy a middle + aged woman dealing with her husbands death and loneliness by hooking up with men she meets on line - true story

Don't see it if Jokes about vaginal dryness bother you. The idea of seeking married men as sex partners doesn't sit well with you. Mediocre song/talent/book

"There’s no doubt that I laughed often at Bobby Goldman’s hilarious musical...In a highly physical show that gives her virtually no rest, Opel writhes, struts, vamps and grimaces through one uproarious scene after another, all the while delivering Drew Brody’s sassy, witty songs with her strong but disciplined voice...A snappy, breathless and sophisticated romp."

"A fast-paced romp through the horrors and joys of post-menopausal widowhood in the digital age...It’s tuneful, to be sure—but I can’t say you’ll go home humming any of the numbers. The very talented ensemble does a terrific job portraying myriad characters and undergoing rapid costume changes. Opel is the high-energy center, and makes this musical sizzle."

"'Curvy Widow' is a delightful revelation of widowhood, with all its frustrations, disappointments and delights...A hilarious, high-voltage romp portraying an indomitable woman's determination to forge a new life with or without a male partner...Opel is a delight on and offstage and could take this 90-minute (no intermission) dynamo role to great heights."

"The most fearless and entertaining original musical about the resurrection of the human spirit in some time...Yes, this is a musical with grief at its core, but make no mistake, there is nothing maudlin about 'Curvy Widow'...One of 'Curvy Widow’s' triumphs is the refreshing fact that we now have an original and smart musical featuring a cast where everybody is over fifty...Nancy Opel is a tour de force as Bobby Goldman...Ballsy. Brilliant. See it."
