See it if You would really like to see Peter Dinklage on stage in a singing role. It is a musical (surprisingly).

Don't see it if Need more than a few pop-like songs and are looking for a play. Nothing groundbreaking is happening.

Also I walked in expecting a play. My mistake. Peter is a great actor and there are a few zingers that are funny in Act 1. The piece is decent but there's nothing that particularly stands out. Not the music. Not the staging. Not costume design. Did I expect more from an off-broadway production? Maybe. I think there was a gem waiting to happen somewhere but it falls short overall. See it if Of courage Dinklage is amazing but so is the choreography. The acting is super from top to bottom. I cried thru most of the final section.

Don't see it if You don’t like stylized sets or gorgeous language. Also don’t go in you expect a jazzy ending.

See it if it's too late for this one, but I recommend catching this new musical iteration of an old classic, if and when it will be staged again.

Don't see it if well-written, acted, sung, choreographed and orchestrated musicals based on an old literary classic are not to your liking.

Also I decided to see this show on its last performance, and with patience succeeded in landing a hard to get ticket. It was very much worth my effort.

This newly written musical based on the literary classic character of Cyrano de Bergerac, felt fresh, visually stunning and left me questioning what my eyes saw. I didn't know what to make of the unison-stop-motion movement choreography performed by the cast throughout the show. It had the effect of watching a movie in slow motion, with all the actors suddenly moving across the stage at a tenth the normal speed in unison. Ingenious, it turned the story perhaps into a narrative flashback, a faded memory, something that happened long ago and is fading from human history. At least that is how I decided to interpret it. As well I loved the stark, cinematic, and at times illuminated windowed set designs that turned us into a voyeuristic audience.

Don't see it if You want a full scale Broadway musical with a big chorus and elaborate choreography, sets and staging

Also This is a charming little piece with star power, but not one that overwhelms the production. Dinklage makes a great Cyrano, and thank goodness they didn't stick a silly fake nose on him. The contrast between the handsome youth and the rough mature soldier needed no help. The use of slow motion movement by the background characters was very effective especially in the bakery scene with the chefs doing a wonderful baking ballet. Also forget the sass & swagger & swordplay. forget the farce & the comic wordplay. what we have here is 1) the formidable peter dinklage as a lovesick, heartsick hero who confronts the world in a human form that he (mistakenly) believes to be unlovable. 2) the exquisite jasmine cephas jones as roxanne --privileged, entitled, & too blinded by her idealized romantic notions to recognize the real thing when it's right under her perky little nose. 3) tender/expressive/mournful music --sung in a rumbling soulful growl by dinklage and with a contemporary sob in her tremolo by cephas jones. 4) blake jenner is perfect as the handsome frat-boy christian; grace mclean adds depth & wit to a few small thankless parts; & ritchie coster's portrayal of the boo-able villain deguiche is layered & fascinating. in the final analysis, however, this is peter dinklage's vehicle --his performance is convincing, compelling & heartwrenching, and in turns warm, witty, fierce, romantic, heroic, bereft, & proud.... Read more Read less

See it if You want to see one of the greatest actors of our day, Peter Dinklage, he was perfect for this role. The other actors were also great.

Don't see it if You follow what the critics say to the letter I judged for myself and enjoyed it. Seats very uncomfortable. I was v moved by the war scene.

Don't see it if you're only seeing it for Peter Dinklage. He's wonderful, but not a singer. If you see it, you should come in supporting the whole cast.

Also I found their approach to be elegant and gorgeous. The set was incredible, the choreography was brilliant, and the book was beautiful. But I found a lot of inconsistency in writing and music. The script would often flip back and forth between modern English and "Olde English." Dinklage is definitely not the best singer for solos either. Many of the singers also sung in different styles or placed vibratos and riffs in places it shouldn't be. I'm not sure if they were directed like that or it was only the actors' approach, but it was difficult to hear their words. I think if their music direction was a little more solidified and if the script had a little more continuity and centered itself around the beauty of the poetry, it would be a solid piece of work. Also I’m not sure if this was advertised as a musical, but to me it is a play with music...and the music isn’t that good. The cast members who are great singers are from The Great Comet and Hamilton.
