About the Show

A new musical comedy based on the bestselling series by Dav Pilkey, creator of Captain Underpants.

Best friends George and Harold have been making comics for ages, but now that they’re in 5th grade, they decided it's time to level up and write a musical based on their favorite character, Dog Man, the crime-biting sensation who is part dog, part man, and 100% hero. How hard could it be?

With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man likes to fight crime and chew on furniture, but while trying his best to be a good boy, can he save the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and his army of Beasty Buildings? Can he catch Petey, the world’s most nefarious cat, who has cloned himself to take revenge on the doggy do-gooder? And can George and Harold finish their musical before lunchtime?

"The players all do a fine job. Owen-who barks, yips and howls his spoken lines and lyrics-makes Dog Man a big galumphing sweetheart. Children at the performance under review seemed particularly enamored of Davidson's winsome Li'l Petey. Adults, on the other hand, may take more of a shine to LaVerdiere's scrumptiously villainous big Petey, who is funniest precisely when his attempts at being suave and cool falter-just as with actual felines that scramble to save face after not landing gracefully on all four feet."
