Intense, Great acting, Nice staging, Great singing, Absorbing

See it if you like to see a rarely performed opera by Umberto Giordano. Wonderful singing and staging. Confusing plot so read synopsis before you go.

Don't see it if you want an opera with many great arias.See composer's Andrea Chenier if this is case.I wouldn't bring the kids since plot involves sadness. Read more

Terrific singing, Drab setting, Ridiculous libretto

See it if you believe outstanding lead singers and the MET orchestra can save an opera with a crazy plot, filled with momentary wild shifts in tone.

Don't see it if you're bored to tears with McVicker's MET stagings, dark and dreary and mostly black & white (Act II Paris ball is the only saving grace).

Masterful, Great staging, Great singing

See it if One of the best plots of any opera I've seen, masterfully sung. It's lovely and tragic.

Don't see it if It's got a smaller cast and a less impressive set than a lot of operas; if you're looking for incredible spectacle, this isn't that.

Great staging, Great singing, Great acting, Entertaining

See it if Entertaining production by the Metropolitan Opera featuring wonderful performances by both the male and female leads.

Don't see it if The libretto was a little silly but if you can get by that I think you will have an entertaining evening.
