Entertaining, Great acting, Absorbing, Great singing, Delightful

See it if you understand Yiddish or love Fiddler so much you can excuse weak singing. The acting and staging are good, and Tevye is well played.

Don't see it if You are a purist and don't want liberties taken with the dialog and lyrics of a classic show like this one. Some of the principals were weak

Slow, Indulgent, Overrated, Dated, Disappointing

See it if you just love the music, but then again part of my problem was that I kept singing the lyrics in English and it really detracted fromtheshow

Don't see it if you expect a great production - singing and acting were not great at all, show fell very flat for me

Earnest, Charmless, Disappointing

See it if you want to see a classic American musical performed in a foreign language - Hebrew.

Don't see it if you hope to see sparkling performances, rousing choruses and lush orchestrations.

Also I had hoped to be thrilled once more by this magnificent musical. The ... Read more Read less

A little disappointed

See it if You like fiddler

Don't see it if If you are set in a specific vision

See it if You LOVE Fiddler and you want to take your mother to something you know she will love.

Don't see it if You don’t like subtitles and too long shows.

Enchanting, Entertaining, Dated, Clever, Absorbing

See it if You want to see a classic and discover the intimate world of closed religious community

Don't see it if If you want something new and edgy, give it a pass

Funny, Cliched

See it if You really want to see a middling Fiddler

Don't see it if You already know the show and don’t need to see another production of it.

Rather, it offers a kind of authenticity no other American ‘Fiddler’ ever has: It’s in Yiddish......

"The show has arrived with its stripped-down aesthetic and emotionally lucid production intact. In fact, it feels even more resonant... This may not be the most spectacularly sung, danced or designed 'Fiddler' ever to hit the stage, but it's likely the most authentic thanks to the use of Yiddish ...

“Thrilling...So virtuosic is Steven Skybell in that role that he often needs no language at all for us to feel his character swerve from ironic mockery to righteous anger to heartbreak...Illes is engaging and steely and Hoffman is comic and a bit over-the-top...The production’s polish and verve m...
