Absorbing, Amazing Score, Beautiful Design, Brilliant Cast, Clever

See it if You are a musical theatre fan looking to get into opera. I think Blanchard’s score is so successful and so thoughtful yet accessible.

Don't see it if You are triggered by shows about SA. There’s a catharsis in the show, but the show really revolves around this.

Genius Staging, Profound

See it if modern opera, with astonishing Camille A. Brown staging and choreography, raw emotional experience, appeals.

Don't see it if you don't want your gut wrenched, however artfully.

Ambitious, Edgy, Great Singing, Intense, Thought-Provoking

See it if Blanchard's melancholic, jazz-infused opera deals w/such loaded topics as sexual molestation & Christianity Exquisitely sung by its 3 leads

Don't see it if Lemmons' libretto flags somewhat in the later stages of the piece as we await Charles' much hoped for / needed redemption & reconciliation
