About the show

Astoria Performing Arts Center presents Stephen Sondheim's classic musical where, before their former theater is demolished, the former "Weismann Follies" showgirls reunite to say goodbye.

In one evening, memory and time intermingle as two couples confront the truth about their past and their present in order to face the future. Featuring some of Sondheim's most well-known songs, including "Losing My Mind," "I'm Still Here," and "Broadway Baby," 'Follies' juxtaposes innocence with sophistication, harsh reality with surrealism, and the dreams of what will be with the regrets of what was.

Entertaining, Great singing, Relevant, Dated

See it if Set in the 1970s yet the problems are still relevant to today’s audience. The dancing & musical numbers were very entertaining. Well casted

Don't see it if You find stories about mature relationships boring. There are moments where it gets slow but quickly picks ups.

See it if you like Sondheim. If you like seeing great performers, especially those "of a certain age". If you like smart, thought provoking musicals

Don't see it if you DON'T love Sondheim. If you can't use a little imagination to fill in the visual gaps of grandeur.

Entertaining, Clever, Disappointing, Overrated, Dated

See it if You are a fan of the musical. The show is well designed and staged. And Sondheim is always great with lyrics and music.

Don't see it if This isn’t your favorite Sondheim show. It definitely feels the most dated, especially how it portrays gender and relationships.

Also Also, plan ahead. This theater is VERY difficult to get to/find. And t... Read more Read less

And they're all super talented...Two of the standouts are Henderson's rendition of ‘The Story of Lucy and Jessie’ and Horton's Buddy's Blues’. They blew my so...

"'Follies' transported me back in time as I enjoyed such Broadway standards as 'I'm Still Here' and 'Could I Leave Her?' The story concerns a reunion of Weismann's Follies in a crumbling Broadway theatre, scheduled for demolition. We wander through the memories of two couples and alternate betwee...
