Funny, Great acting, Great staging, Entertaining, Great writing

Disappointing, Slow, Funny, Cliched, Excruciating

See it if I love Lonergan (Margaret is my favorite movie) & was excited to see Olyphant but this was only fitfully amusing. Adelaide Clemens is lovely

Don't see it if repetitive, over-long, and shockingly misogynistic. Olyphant disappoints in an unconvincing performance, but really the writing is to blame

During previews

See it if You are the type who enjoys the cheap laughs I heard around me but did not share. I know these people exist. I don't understand them.

Don't see it if You don't want to spend an evening wondering why a playwright would spend a significant part of his life creating dreck like this.

His dialogue is sharp and funny, and his characters slip easy judgment...Neil Pepe’s perfectly balanced producti...

"There's a much better play nestling in the almost three hours of 'Hold On to Me Darling', but Lonergan seems unwilling to find it, leaving most of the poignancy buried between his disjointed scenes...The chief compensation in this premiere is very funny dialogue performed by a fine cast. Neil Pe...
