When his mother dies, country star Strings McCrane begins to question his life and its purpose. He returns home to Tennessee, leaving fame and fortune behind, but his escape does not go as planned. Atlantic Theater Company artistic director Neil Pepe directs this new work by Kenneth Lonergan, Pulitzer-prize finalist and writer of last season's hit revival of 'This Is Our Youth' on Broadway.
See it if I love Lonergan (Margaret is my favorite movie) & was excited to see Olyphant but this was only fitfully amusing. Adelaide Clemens is lovely
Don't see it if repetitive, over-long, and shockingly misogynistic. Olyphant disappoints in an unconvincing performance, but really the writing is to blame
See it if You are the type who enjoys the cheap laughs I heard around me but did not share. I know these people exist. I don't understand them.
Don't see it if You don't want to spend an evening wondering why a playwright would spend a significant part of his life creating dreck like this.
