Entertaining, Hilarious, Great staging, Great writing, Great acting

See it if You're a John Leguizamo fan... and even if you aren't. His brilliant conceptualizing of Latin American history and culture hit the mark.

Don't see it if You are a fan of the moron occupying the White House & if you believe in border walls. Otherwise, go before it closes (limited run). Read more

Hilarious, Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great writing, Great acting

See it if you are a fan of John Leguizamo and his brand of off-beat, priviledge checking humor. A one-man show that does not fail to entertain.

Don't see it if you are not a fan of John Leguizamo, or if you're just too tired of apologizing for being white middle class. Read more

Relevant, Thought-provoking, Intelligent

See it if You want an energetic, thoughtful, laugh out loud take on education, ethnic identity & parenting-made me think about how I teach and parent

Don't see it if offended by cursing, talk of politics, or can’t sit through 105 minutes of one man talking. Left theater wanting to do research!

Absorbing, Enchanting, Funny, Intelligent, Must see

See it if everyone should see a one-man show from John Leguizamo. This one is both entertaining and educational (and I mean that in a good way).

Don't see it if I don't have an answer for this. Go see it.

AM New York

“The show is a tall order for Leguizamo to fill on his own, with overlapping tracks that include a slow and sentimental multi character family drama, stand-up comedy, personal confessions, history, political criticism and even an elaborate dance break...His long-winded attempt to dramatize conversations with his son, wife and daughter falls flat and weighs down the rest of the show, in which he interacts directly with the audience with flair, fervor and ease.”

“Leguizamo's sixth solo performance...This one reveals a maturing comedian who manages to be funny, instructive, and touchingly reflective...Leguizamo's talent extends to dance moves and a mastery of dialects as he takes on dozens of characters, capturing each voice and gesture with stunning precision...His boundless energy and comic timing never seems to fail with a virtuosity that continually tops itself...As a solo performer — he ranks among the very best.”

“Class is in session...Our professor is the ever-animated Leguizamo, who jubilantly lectures, provokes, and amuses...We spend 100 minutes laughing at his antics... Leguizamo presents a show that is refreshingly un-PC. No tribe escapes Leguizamo's gleeful mockery...As thrilling as it was to behold him up-close, he seems more at home on Broadway...It never feels like too much...Sadly, we don't actually learn much about pre-Columbian America...There is still a lot of digging to do."

“Professor Leguizamo is here to ‘undo your whole education and the entire way you think’ in approximately 100 minutes...All of these stories are told in Leguizamo's inimitable style that incorporates hilarious reenactments, impressions, and a steady stream of obscenity-laden one-liners in both English and Spanish...Even if you aren't already among the legions of whooping Leguizamo fans, you are likely to be among the converted by the time you leave.”

“Leguizamo's command of an audience and his transformative capacities are astonishing...But the many digressions and the scattershot quality of the facts we are served eventually feels reductive...'Latin History for Morons' does not allow the audience to engage with the important ideas it introduces...The inherent wild looseness of Leguizamo’s acting style does temporarily distract from flaws in the script...Taccone might have assisted here by trimming the piece to sharpen the focus."

“Structured as a raucous historical lecture, Leguizamo’s latest, self-written solo show is exuberantly performed, well observed and often quite funny. It’s entertaining but its running time...could lead to restlessness for those who are not major fans...Though arguably a more contained format would have been more effective, with ‘Latin History for Morons’ Leguizamo succeeds at his informative and diversionary goals with tremendous flair.”

"An essential part of the whole of a twenty-six-year career that finds Leguizamo thriving and still relevant...He educates his son, himself, and the audience on unsung major figures in American history through the physical comedy that has made him one of the most celebrated comedians of the last thirty years and displays an unsparing political fierceness that feels necessary in comedy right now. If Leguizamo has to grow up, he’ll force the rest of us to grow up with him."

“Leguizamo is funny, charming, has a limitless range of voices to portray his multiple characters, and above all, injects his material with a Thanksgiving-size portion of humanity....Timeless and topical...A minor negative — the many Spanish curse words and phrases were joyously funny to the Spanish speakers but unknown to others...By taking this theatrical journey, you will laugh constantly, relate to John’s family, and be more aware of the contributions of the native peoples of the Americas."
