Absorbing, Great writing, Great singing, Masterful, Great staging

See it if Every part of this worked: music, singing, set design. It SHOULD be a depressing show, w/the subject matter, but 2hr later I'm still happy.

Don't see it if The 2nd act drags a little at the end, but make no mistake: in a FANTASTIC season at the Met, this is one of the brightest stars.

Beautiful bel canto music, Great staging, Great singing

See it if you like bel canto opera at its best. This opera is to bel canto as Swan Lake is to ballet. Great staging. Beautiful music.

Don't see it if you don't like opera or don't like very unhappy endings. Read more

Long, Overrated, Slow, Great staging

See it if you like Norma or Bellini or stories about Druids or Romans, or want to see some neat staging with moving trees (a la Macbeth)

Don't see it if you don’t like tragic grand opera or prefer comedies, a shrill Norma doesn’t sound thrilling, or 3 1/4 hours is too long for you to sit Read more

Slow, Entertaining, Absorbing, Great writing, Great singing

See it if wonderful music well played and acted. Boring sets and relatively little action. Yoncheva sings well but her acting is bland

Don't see it if you want a powerhouse Norma like Radvanovsky. The central character is empty and while the supporting characters act well it is boring

Great staging, Classic, Enchanting

See it if you want to see one powerful woman boss an entire army of druid soldiers around ;) , you want to hear gorgeous opera music.

Don't see it if you prefer comedies.

“Called upon to do little more than stand and deliver, this cast did so splendidly. One sat mesmerized by the beauty of their singing and the emotions that they generated through voice alone, with nary a needless visual distraction.”
