About the show

Keen Company presents the first New York revival of this musical about four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect in unexpected ways as they search for success, happiness, love, and taxis. More…

"Ordinary Days" is a comic and inspiring musical about making simple connections in a chaotic city. It is a sweet, fleet, and tender story that follows its characters as they fight through the emotional noise and dramatic traffic to arrive at a clearer sense of who they are and what they want to be.

Mediocre, Overly sentimental, Superficial, Dedicated performers, Predictable

See it if you like stories about people struggling for meaning and life in NYC, enjoy happy endings and can tolerate "ordinary" singing and music.

Don't see it if you desire musicals that have depth in characterizations, are not overly sentimental & predictable & contain some uniqueness.

Disappointing, Overrated, Relevant

See it if You enjoy ordinary musicals about relationships.

Don't see it if You want to see a play with great staging and character development.

55
Confusing, Disappointing, Slow

See it if You like sung-through musicals about living in New York City.

Don't see it if Want to care about the characters and the show. Doesn’t have a strong payoff.

Great singing, Fluffy, Dated, Confusing, William finn-style

See it if you're already a fan of the score and want to hear it well sung.

Don't see it if you're tired of small cast song cycle style shows that throws a tragedy at the end in order to make it seem deeper or more relevant.

Also I had only passingly listened to the original recording when it came o... Read more Read less

Disappointing, Cliched, Ordinary

See it if you enjoy an ordinary, typical spin on the boy meets girl in NYC experience!

Don't see it if you're looking for catchy music and an unusual spin on the ordinary boy meets girl situation.

Great singing, Disappointing, Indulgent, Funny, Ambitious

See it if You like an intimate musical with good singing voices and don't mind if the story isn't very involving.

Don't see it if You prefer more of an extravaganza in your musicals with songs that don't all sound alike.

Also The cast all have beautiful voices, but I felt the songs all melded in... Read more Read less

Talented cast, Dull, Short, but felt long, Funny moments

See it if you loved the original production. I didn't see it, but the cast of this revival is very talented.

Don't see it if you love stories with strong plots or musicals with strong scores. The songs are forgettable and not much happens on stage.

"A sweet escape back to 2007. It’s a relief to spend a little time in a moment when New Yorkers had the luxury of everyday angst...Claire and Jason never come fully to life. The other love story, though, is delightful to watch. It’s the romance of new friendship between Deb and Warren, which blos...

"Silverstein's swift, light-handed revival of this beguilingly oddball chamber musical is, arguably, better than the original production; it's a potent reminder of his talent...Sometimes Gwon's music skips wittily, nervously over the surface of difficult situations; more often, it is shot through...

“’Ordinary Days’ remains something more than ordinary. Likable, brisk, and professionally mounted with a friendly and strong-singing cast, the Keen production of ‘Ordinary Days’ makes an enjoyably pleasant evening. But it remains not much more than one of those young-folk-trying-to-cope revues. G...

"Although 'Ordinary Days' wants us to believe that these are extraordinary people living through ordinary but memorable days, Jonathan Silverstein's production fails to deliver on that premise. His cast sings well but this sophisticated sung-through musical needs more than just good voices. Unfor...
