About the show

Keen Company presents the first New York revival of this musical about four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect in unexpected ways as they search for success, happiness, love, and taxis. More…

"Ordinary Days" is a comic and inspiring musical about making simple connections in a chaotic city. It is a sweet, fleet, and tender story that follows its characters as they fight through the emotional noise and dramatic traffic to arrive at a clearer sense of who they are and what they want to be.

See it if You want to be entertained by good singing voices

Don't see it if Your expecting a deep story

Great singing, Great acting, Enchanting, Clever, Chamber-musical

See it if You enjoy chamber musicals. Enjoy JRB, Finn, Sondheim, K&L. Want to see something that feels light but not vapid.

Don't see it if You're completely over stories about New York and how living there kills your soul while simultaneously inspiring you.

Great singing, Cliched, Disappointing, Fluffy, Insipid

See it if You love small, sung-through, inoffensive musicals that are about everyday life and sound like Jason Robert Brown-lite.

Don't see it if You’re likely to compare this to a college thesis project, which it probably was. It’s just so very generic & didn’t need a revival.

73
Enchanting, Funny, Great singing, Overrated

See it if You love a simple musical, very straightforward with common everyday issues

Don't see it if You want to be amazed. The writing is just plain

72
Quirky, Romantic, Resonant, Well sung, Disappointing

See it if Gwon's 'slice of life in NYC' songcycle doesn't break new ground but pleasant enough Talented actors commited to material Marion shines

Don't see it if Silverstein's phlegmatic direction doesn't help Gwon's rather ordinary craftsmanship Show often feels as adrift as the characters

Feels like a revue with a thin unifying theme.

See it if 4-hander that splits into two couples. "warren" is charming and their subtext is equally winning. The 2nd couple has the drama,

Don't see it if I was blindsided without sufficient breadcrumbs to prepare me for the reveal. I was lulled by the froth.

Also I had no idea what this was about, I went to hear Whitney Bashor. I su... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Great acting

See it if you like to hear about 4 young New Yorkers: their "big picture" and small or big moments which influence the "ordinary days" of their lives.

Don't see it if you need spoken text to bring the story along. This story is completely told with songs.

72
Great singing & acting, Charming music, Banal, Slow, Disappointing

See it if you enjoy sweet, charming musicals with unmemorable music well-sung & well-acted by 4 terrific performers, especially Whitney Bashor!

Don't see it if slow-paced, unoriginal musicals bore you and charming music & performers with well-trained voices who can act don't suffice to satisfy you!

72
Generic, Fluffy, Relevant, Romantic

See it if You want to see another killer performance by Whitney Bashor. She was the main draw for me and really blew everyone else out of the water.

Don't see it if You're looking for a musical with a varied sound. Every song is pretty much the same and contemporary MT.

71
Cliched, Great singing, Entertaining, Fluffy

See it if you enjoy short, tuneful (if middling) musicals with some good performances

Don't see it if you're not a fan of fluff and feel resentful of manipulative last-minute twists

70
Great singing, Clever, Entertaining

See it if You like beautiful singing

Don't see it if You are expecting a deep story with ornate scenery

70
Great writing, Great singing, Poorly directed, Sweet, Absorbing

See it if you can look past the boring, uninspired direction and enjoy the wonderful songs and great performances, especially from Sherman and Bashor.

Don't see it if you've never seen the show before. This production takes all of the vitality, urgency and honesty out of the show.

63
Disappointing, Overrated, Relevant

See it if You enjoy ordinary musicals about relationships.

Don't see it if You want to see a play with great staging and character development.

61
Mediocre, Overly sentimental, Superficial, Dedicated performers, Predictable

See it if you like stories about people struggling for meaning and life in NYC, enjoy happy endings and can tolerate "ordinary" singing and music.

Don't see it if you desire musicals that have depth in characterizations, are not overly sentimental & predictable & contain some uniqueness.

55
Confusing, Disappointing, Slow

See it if You like sung-through musicals about living in New York City.

Don't see it if Want to care about the characters and the show. Doesn’t have a strong payoff.

49
Banal, Confusing, Disappointing, Excruciating, Fluffy

See it if You have zero expectations for an interesting plot, realistic dialogue, or a memorable score.

Don't see it if You want an enjoyable night at the theatre, which to me should provide an entertaining and unique perspective.

Also I had average hopes for this musical, and even those were not realized... Read more Read less

Clever, Delightful, Entertaining, Funny, Great singing

See it if 4 characters-one was a bit lame but loved how the show identifies a New Yorker! Did not realize the show was all singing and it did not grab

Don't see it if If your thing is not a light operetta then this is not for you

Moving, Great singing, Great writing, Enchanting, Sweet

See it if you like Adam Gwon (or don't know his work), and would enjoy a lovely musical about 4 New Yorkers and how their lives are connected.

Don't see it if you don't like small intimate musicals. It's mostly sung through, but more of a book musical than a song cycle.

Also Great cast!... Read more Read less
