Absorbing, Entertaining, Great acting, Great staging, Relevant

Well acted, Well written, Entertaining when you're not pushing elbows, Excruciatingly uncomfortable seats

See it if you can grab one of only 4 aisle seats. It's a good story, very well acted with lots of twists.

Don't see it if you don't want to spend your time pushing elbows and getting squished. At least 2 skirmishes broke out during the show.

Also Narrow armless chairs tied together. So distracting from the play and ... Read more Read less

Slow, 90 minute drama, stark white fancy set

See it if The woman w/the guitar & her manager, and the guy's dad, are believable & can act & sing. Nice to see the guy from the original RENT.

Don't see it if The rest of the cast does a lot of screaming and yelling, and has one-dimensional over-acting.

Needs trimmed, Fine, Cliched

See it if you're into plays about contract law in the recording industry.

Don't see it if you're not a fan of jamming sessions or are expecting a musical.

Cliched, Entertaining, Technical, Great staging

See it if You're interested in the musical business because that's the main focus. There's family drama that doesn't work.

Don't see it if You are uncomfortable with plays in small spaces. The seating is on three sides and about 50-60 seats total.

Irrelevant, Old-fashioned script, Cliched, Great acting, Great staging

See it if for a perfect cast and solid direction & casting

Don't see it if you want to be surprised, wowed and/or moved.

Also Very episodic and reminiscent of a TV drama. Not worth traveling to a ... Read more Read less

Long, Uneven, Thought-provoking, Relevant, Intelligent

See it if You are into songwriting, the music business, Latin music, hiphop, character studies, family dramas, coming-of-age, sparse sets and staging

Don't see it if You expect world-class playwriting, accuracy in terms of the music business and how music artists record and create, fleshed out characters

Also I am happy to see anything dealing with the music business and making ... Read more Read less

Disappointing, Dated, Banal

See it if you're a sucker for striving artists' stories, even if they're very poorly dramatized.

Don't see it if you like your plays to be well-written and well-directed.

Also This is the 2nd play in a row at Cherry Lane (after "Actually We're F*... Read more Read less

"The exploitation theme is a lot more compelling than the selfishness theme, which plays out too familiarly in situations with Danny’s sister and with his roommate. But the best scene is about neither: at the center of the play is a gorgeous extended musical sequence between Danny and Ryan that c...
