In "The Other Day," after four characters lives intersect, each embarks on a personal journey that will redefine their relationships, and themselves, in surprising ways. More…
A gay couple with substance abuse issues, a woman confronting her failing marriage, and a charming foreigner hiding a secret share an unexpected journey through love, addiction, loss, and redemption.
“A stunning full-fledged production for the award-winning playwright, highlighting his masterful ability to elevate subtlety to passionate art. In this story of a gay couple who connect through an anonymous substance-abuse support group, Williams gives us a world where even the tiniest sensations have the rush of full-body intimacy...Most striking about ‘The Other Day’ is its universal meditation on love and loss.” Full Review
“Isaack’s Santo is the standout performance...Some of these scenes can feel slightly repetitive, but it’s a minor flaw that detracts little from the power of the story...Luckily, peppered into the script is some necessary comic relief...that let us forget for just a second the despair unfolding on the stage...’The Other Day’ can be seen as a cautionary tale against not facing problems truthfully and openly, but it doesn’t leave audiences despairing; there is room for hope.” Full Review
See it if Finally an amazing play with superb acting. The chemistry between the 2 main characters was very convincing, I could watch it for hours.
Don't see it if Not interested watching in 2 gay guys (one misogynist and shallow and the other insecure but deep) getting together.
See it if Potent, muscular performaces by leads & inventive staging keep Williams' strong recovery drama from having a (melodramatic) relapse
Don't see it if Drama looses steam after Santo's (an excellent Issack) exit but themes of addiction & obsession (both substance & emotional) still strong
See it if Guy burns thru 13th step relationship with addict partner, hits bottom & finds hope in the end. Parallel subplot with troubled half-sister.
Don't see it if You dislike drawing on 12-step program themes, or quick-cut scene jumps like a TV script.
