Transport Group presents a revitalized version of the musical tale of Margaret “Molly” Brown.
From the show:
This is Molly as she really was: vibrant, progressive, and ready to fight for the underdog as a champion of women’s rights, labor rights, and immigration reform. Transport Group’s production, starring Beth Malone, marks this show’s off-Broadway debut, and the first production in New York since its Broadway premiere in 1960.
See it if you're in the mood for something entertaining and old fashioned
Don't see it if You're looking for a serious and thoughtful tribute to a magnificent woman.
See it if A wonderful cast has some great choreography in this show. An incredibly interesting life I would recommend!
Don't see it if They've tried to update the book which takes a while to take hold. None of the songs were amazing, so don't expect The Music Man!
See it if You want to see a great new revised version of an overlooked musical with a fantastic lead turn by Beth Malone
Don't see it if You’re a old-school purist. The book and several songs have been rewritten
See it if you like meredith willson music, sung and danced beautifully, and don’t mind a flawed book
Don't see it if a flawed book will ruin your experience. this one is imperfect and too long, but when they start singing, the issues evaporate
See it if you're looking for a story that uplifts with a standout leading performance
Don't see it if you're expecting the original Unsinkable. This is quite the re-work, to mixed effect, though Beth Malone is a big sell
See it if you like old fashioned musicals. Beth Malone is terrific (as she was in FunHome) and has a very large role
Don't see it if You don't like musicals. It is too long a production and many numbers should be cut. More like 2 hours would have worked!
See it if You are a Beth Malone fan. She is wonderful. You enjoy entertaining singing and dancing in a small theater space.
Don't see it if You don't like long musicals. Don't like shows with head-stong female characters.
See it if You like old-fashioned musicals that focus on the singing and choreography without crazy stage effects.
Don't see it if You don't like updated material, (this is not like the movie!) or modern political thoughts interjected into the dialogue.
See it if you are able to accept that this is not the Debbie Reynolds movie. In this version (spoiler!) JJ is dictatorial and cheats on Moll
Don't see it if you want to preserve the memory of the innocent version where JJ is kind and deferential and gentle and faithful to Molly.
See it if You enjoy stories centered around women, great singing, period costumes, happy stories
Don't see it if You don’t enjoy stories around the early 1900s, pioneers, first half is great, second half is a bit slow and too long
See it if you like traditional musicals with a powerful female lead played by the energetic and talented Beth Malone. Great cast as well.
Don't see it if you are not interested in social and political themes and not a musical fan.
See it if You want to see a musical in the vein of the golden era. While a new adaption, with an almost 100% revamped modern script, it felt classic
Don't see it if Fluffy shows with that classic musical theatre feel don't amuse you. I'm talking big smiles, big-acting, and hammy moments
See it if You enjoy an “old Fashioned” musical. BETH Malone is a star. She navigates the whole show with ease and makes everything look effortless.
Don't see it if Not interested in the life and times of Molly Brown. This has alterations from the traditional 1960 version.
See it if to enjoy Beth Malone and an excellent cast do their stuff. Lovely revival in first act and contemporary theater stressed in second act.
Don't see it if if new content will annoy you. Second act is too short to develop all of the ideas so drama and musical numbers both suffer.
See it if Great staging and acting, dancing was entertaining. Well done.
Don't see it if You don't like musicals. Very retro, reminiscent of the great musicals of the 50’s and 60’s.
