About the show

New York Classical Theatre presents a free, outdoor, roving staging of Shakespeare's epic romance exploring loss and redemption. More…

In 'The Winter’s Tale,' family, duty, and time itself help us better understand that for true love to come forth, 'It is requir’d you do awake your faith.' Also, look out for the bear! The audience follows the actors from place to place as the play moves from scene to scene. The show covers approximately three city blocks over two hours, so wear comfy shoes and clothes you can sit on the ground in. Presented for free outdoors in Battery Park (July 18-August 7) and Brooklyn Bridge Park (August 9-14).

Great acting, Great staging, Must see, Clever, Funny

Classic, Open-air, Imaginative staging, Fine acting

See it if Shakespeare in the open-air is appealing. This production roves about Battery Park (next week Brooklyn) with the audience following.

Don't see it if You haven't seen a lot of Shakespeare's plays. This one's weird - psychological drama in first acts, then farce, then bizarre resolution.

Clever, Quirky, Must see, Great acting, Great staging

See it if You are a fan of Shakespeare and want to see his work presented in a non-typical spot. Acting is great as usual for this company.

Don't see it if You hate the idea of moving scene to scene or don't like to see hiccups that happen (like helicopters over head) when performing in a park.

Clever, Delightful, Funny

See it if You enjoy Shakespeare outside. This was different and fun! Beautiful backdrops of the City, too.

Don't see it if Can't move from place to place, or you can't hear without sound amplification.

Great acting, Great staging, Must see, Romantic, Intense

See it if You want to experience theatre in a new way: "panoramic theatre".

Don't see it if You don't like Shakespeare

Enchanting, Great acting, Great staging, Masterful, Must see

See it if You enjoy seeing a masterpiece staged expertly in a beautiful venue.

Don't see it if You don't like the outdoors.
