Keen Company and Ensemble Studio Theatre present this world premiere, an investigation into gender about a child who was raised as a girl but is actually a boy.

Inspired by a true story, 'Boy' explores the complicated terrain of trying to find love amidst the confusion of sexual identity, and the inextricable bond between a doctor and patient. In the 1960s, a well-intentioned doctor convinces the parents of a male infant to raise their son as a girl after a terrible accident during circumcision. Years later, the child, now a young adult, tries to live anew as a man. A story of the blinding power of love and the complicated mystery of one’s perception of self, 'Boy' is a moving play that questions what shapes the person we are meant to be.
