In this "street operetta," a Catholic school girl and a subway conductor come together to fight for the health and safety of all New Yorkers, the civil rights of America, and the future of our planet. Starting out at opposite ends of a spontaneous protest by subway passengers on the L train, they both learn the reasons for our current distress and are mentored by community activists. Together these true patriots battle the Monster of Apple Pie Fascism and the Pumpkin Head of State. 'Checks and Balances, or Bottoms Up!' features dozens of performers, a five-piece band, puppets, masks, and smoke machines. It is performed at no cost in parks and playgrounds throughout the five boroughs. Visit the official website for the comprehensive schedule.

See it if Free street theater. Audience automatically in a good mood. Plenty of mirth to spare. Enthusiastic cast having fun. The usual TNC good time.

Don't see it if Bad weather is forecast. There are limits to soaking up free theater, notably getting soaked.
