From the show:
CONTACT HIGH, an original new musical from Kyle Reid Hass and Jeremy Swanton, tells the story of the unlikely friendship between Jean Simon - a drug dealer and recovering heroin addict - and Haley Walter Keys - a misunderstood teen genius with a severe phobia of physical human contact. As Jean fights to get clean and break her ties with a dangerous drug cartel, she inspires Haley to overcome his fears.
Drawing inspiration from the teen angst musicals that got Kyle and Jeremy through high school, and a testament to the resilience one can find in the hope of a better tomorrow, CONTACT HIGH is a new rock musical for a new generation.
See it if A show that is to small a stage to have so many characters. Needs a bigger stage. Good actors in a mish mash show. Actors gave best efforts.
Don't see it if A show that is convoluted, confusing at times and goes nowhere to a solid point entry. If you want an uplifting show that is easy to follow
See it if You like Be More Chill. Great songs by a passionate cast. Packs a punch for such a small gem. Act 2 story is a little convoluted, but still
Don't see it if You don’t like teen musicals. Billed as a Rent Jr. very much not that. A darker BMC.
See it if The smack/haphephobia(no contact)/internal fulfillment rock musical."When you're the voice of the future, you have to be trained & compliant"
Don't see it if Sympathetic lawless drug dealing smack junkie lead? He's afraid to touch and she's afraid to feel - can they connect? Large cast on a stamp.
See it if you like a musical with a very confusing and unrealistic plot with some clever songs and good singing. Entertaining but juvenile.
Don't see it if you like a mature or realistic plot and a traditional musical.
See it if Some very talented performers are trying very hard to entertain in a mish mash of a show.
Don't see it if The ideas, music and staging are too big for this very small space. The venue really hurts what the creators are striving for.
See it if you can tolerate a very silly story, songs that sound alike and enjoy "live" music and a very enthusiastic cast.
Don't see it if if you favor musicals that have some reality, meaningful messages and expect more than an ordinary score and resonant voices.
See it if ... you like to see work by new artists. Tries to check too many topical boxes. Inane, complicated plot and characters. Committed cast.
Don't see it if ...you prefer a focused story. This one is all over the place. From a missing kid to addiction/drug dealing, to a HS science competition.
See it if You want to see a young Jonathan Larson (Rent) who is a true visionary and has written and produced the most creative show in decades
Don't see it if This show may not appeal to older audiences and is VERY far from the cliche Broadway musical. Unique subject matter - need to follow closely
