Also The actress has tried to bring us Marlene. Her look and mannerisms are quite good. The choices of songs and her accomplished accompanist try to give us a glimpse into the oeuvre of Marlene. However in trying to duplicate Marlene's thick accent, husky voice and overt sexuality she falls short. The accent is distracting and she strains too hard to capture the earthiness of that unique voice. The difficulty is most evident when she portrays Marlene's hard preparation and attention to detail compared with the ease and fluidity of her stage and life persona. Also You will be asked to wait in a small lobby until almost curtain time; not very comfortable. Nice little set and the pianist is wonderful. Marlene had a definitive way with a song.....she had a somewhat husky but very musical voice and knew how to phrase so well.
The performer playing Marlene is not a very strong singer, and the Dietrich legato is missing here. Still, there are some effective acting moments, especially in the strength Marlene had to strongly oppose the Nazi regime.
