About the show

From the show:

In the midst of a post-apocalyptic sandstorm, Citrona, a young woman whose body is covered in fur, is purchased, caged and fetishized by a pet shop owner named Michael. When he hires beautiful Nena to hunt for Citrona’s food, an absurd and captivating love triangle ensnares all three characters. Intense, primal and delightfully bizarre, Migdalia Cruz's FUR exposes the beating heart of impulsive, unconventional desire.

Slow, Confusing, Indulgent, Quirky, Excruciating

Thought-provoking, Indulgent, Confusing, Edgy, Ambitious

See it if Cruz's intense study in carnal obsession is both fascinating & frustrating Well acted with an arresting set help create a seductive universe

Don't see it if Allegory, metaphor & a telenovela, oh my!! It's density & deliberate obtuseness hinder any cogent understanding Possibly that's the point...

Good central performance, Endless, Stereotypical

See it if you admire earlier work of this playwright or this company & would like to see it all.

Don't see it if you don’t care to look in on a bizarre love triangle that just reinforces gender stereotypes & takes a very long, tedious time doing it.

Also I loved an earlier production by this company, but not “FUR”. The reas... Read more Read less

Banal, Inconsistent, Odd, Edgy, Quirky

See it if you are curious about this curious show in which a man buys the woman he wants to marry and keeps her in a cage.

Don't see it if constancy of action is important to you. A lot of events in this production don't follow logically.

Slow, Quirky, Edgy

See it if Unusual premise and bizarre.

Don't see it if You don’t like an edgy and sexual of norm play, you should skip.

Slow, Poor writing, Indulgent, Disappointing, Confusing

See it if you're intrigued to see decent actors try to give life and depth to an often outright painful script. An interesting set is enough for you.

Don't see it if you're not obligated. I simply could not get over how disjointed and stilted the script is and I cannot help but wonder why it's being done.

Quirky, Slow, Thought-provoking, Great staging

See it if You're up an edgy script, well staged production, and a company that takes risks.

Don't see it if You're not into the grotesque and absurd. It also runs longer than needed to.

Disappointing, Thought-provoking, Slow

See it if You like original storylines

Don't see it if You don’t like love triangles.

Way too long

See it if You like stories that involve ridiculous characters and an over the top plot

Don't see it if It will bother you that this has no flow. Everyone will agree this is way too long

Provocative, Slow, Ambitious

See it if This will repel many but will appeal to a certain niche audience. Some funny jokes. Desire between women > any hetero desire.

Don't see it if Sounds like erotica written by 14-year olds. Too florid, missing the charge of suggestiveness. Hard to pinpoint the least embarrassing part.

Also The production is good, but you have to be prepared to bear a lot of e... Read more Read less

Great staging, Great acting, A writing debacle

See it if your a fan of things like Plan 9, Rocky Horror and Sharknado. It is so bad it could become cult "good".

Don't see it if you want a coherent story, that doesn't go from seriousness to banility in the same sentence

Also A "children's" story about sexual fetish - not that any two of the thr... Read more Read less

Intense, Slow, Edgy, Fetishistic, Creepy

See it if A futuristic world with a love triangle that has pathos and intensity but much violence and raunchy sexuality including beastiality

Don't see it if Very slow-paced and intense drama between three characters with one in a cage the whole time, violence and sex very conflated,

Also Seems to be a metaphor for something, but the intensity, pathos and ov... Read more Read less

Patricia bosworth's book on the love of freaks might help?, Quirky, Indulgent, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if Oddest of oddball love triangles featuring an animal collector & his prize possession: A Woman covered head to toe with Hair. Not for all??

Don't see it if Adventurous auds only, especially Beatles fans with ideas about copyright infringement. Bald people may feel jealous of the constructed 1zee

Also There are several scenes inolving the eating of raw animals (stuffed o... Read more Read less

"Fur has the distinction of having the most unpalatable premise of the season so far… whatever [its] ideas about women, power, sexuality, freedom, male vanity, and the disruptive power of lust may be, they are impossible to make out in these overheated surroundings."

"While it's effectively staged, Fur is not for everyone. If you're a theatergoer who avoids plays with violent, visceral content or who is put off by ambiguity, you may decide to take a pass on it. Those who go, though, are not likely to soon forget the production or its unusual central character."
