HERE presents the world premiere of this drama about a commercial real estate broker who receives a heart transplant, and finds himself forever changed. More…
Barry Weiss is a hotshot broker: arrogant, smart, and tough. His girlfriend Janie is his take-no-prisoners business partner. They ride the big wave of ambition and wealth, self-involved and self-satisfied. But when Barry needs a new heart, he descends into a comically callous world of medically inept doctors and hard-bitten nurses. As he recuperates, he finds that everything feels wrong. What are these feelings, these thoughts, all these questions? When he shows up on the doorstep of his donor's widow, he begins a dangerous journey into the true nature of his illness and the deeper meaning of his new heart.
See it if You like sophomoric sex humor, you were a fan of the movie "Jacob's Ladder" and want to see that theme rehashed
Don't see it if You prefer grown-up humor, you don't like narrative threads that go nowhere, you dislike misdirection that leads to a surprise ending
See it if You need an irony booster. One character says it best, "I hate your lousy irony." The acting is good. There is an "ah ha," at the end.
Don't see it if Maybe it's me. I could find no sympathy for, nor interest in a loud-mouthed, arrogant, egotistical real estate guy.
See it if If you want to see an engrossing, but flawed show, that keeps you interested and has some excellent acting
Don't see it if You want a finished, polished piece - it needs some work.
See it if You'd enjoy a lighthearted funny take on a serious subject (organ transplant) with zany characters.
Don't see it if You feel that needing a heart transplant isn't a laughing matter or risqué scenes offend you
See it if you are fascinated by how having a transplanted organ might change your personality. You like a mixture of drama with some huge comedy.
Don't see it if you think transplanting organs/personality is a not terribly important thing to think about.
See it if ....you want to see a fun and different script come to life with great acting by five young amazing actors..
Don't see it if ....you're not interested in seeing a fast-paced well acted story.
See it if You'd like to see a well acted show
Don't see it if You're looking for a surprise, I found the ending very predictable.
See it if you enjoy writing with a lot of sexual undertones. This play felt very rudimentary to me.
Don't see it if you enjoy writing with depth and meaning. The subject matter of this play is very surface-level.
See it if If your looking for a play with good dama amazing cast and clever twist that will keep you on suspense till the end then this is for you
Don't see it if Don't see this play if your not interested in plays with turns and twist it has adult content and language not suitable for children
See it if If you like new and experimental theatre, with great potential if you had more time.
Don't see it if If don't like unlikeable characters who are sometime heartless for no reason.
See it if Remember years ago on TV-Dallas got so crazy they had Bobby come back to life and dream the whole last season away? If you liked that...???
Don't see it if You want any sort of originality or meaning or ANY reason to see this play...other than pretty good acting and odd direction.
See it if On the fence... some overacting and some convoluted plot points don't spoil this decent and interesting play. "Lorna" actor was a standout!
Don't see it if You don't like small productions or need everything spelled out for you. It has potential so worth a try.
See it if You want a high-concept story told in an interesting way. You like off-beat storytelling.
Don't see it if You don't like absurdist elements in plays. You prefer a more original story: although it's presented well, the story has been done before.
See it if you enjoy an interesting plot. A man who has no heart gets a new heart and reacts. A bit overdone and a little confusing but interesting.
Don't see it if you don't like characters who keep yelling. A comedy with a serious idea that needs some work done to make it more effective.
See it if small [4 in cast] idea driven [heart transplant possible results] powerful performances [Barbra Wengard/Collin Smith] theatre makes your day
Don't see it if small, low tech, specific issue, willing suspension of disbelief/can heart transplant change personality, theatre make u willingly stay away
See it if Solid acting, eccentric characters, but a muddled ending leaves the audience confused - not a good way to leave a theater.
Don't see it if Hopefully HERE will keep working with the creative team on this play - there is great potential in this story.
See it if you appreciate rapid speak, politically incorrect, raunchy humor on dour topic & twist. Wengard's and Sims' performances worth boring start.
Don't see it if heart disease and transplant topic upsets you, you prefer clean, light fun or musical or you cannot sit 90 min. without interval.
See it if You can buy into the idea that heart transplant includes personality aspects of the donor to make both comic and serious points. Dubious.
Don't see it if You've either had or love someone who's had a heart transplant. It might offend and/or freak you out. Not worth risking for this so-so ply
See it if A good showcase for actors flexing their dark, comedic chops, and a fast-moving and engaging story.
Don't see it if I thought the play could use a re-write, as it seemed to speak in allegory, but I wasn't sure what the moral of the story was?
