Hilarious, Great writing, Great staging, Entertaining

See it if You have a sense of humor of the tried and true variety. Example: painting with a severed body part is referred to as finger painting.

Don't see it if You are afraid of a rabbit puppet

Quirky, Indulgent, Entertaining

See it if you have nostalgia for old children's TV, you want to see a little puppetry, and you have an appetite for pun-based humor.

Don't see it if the idea of puns shoehorned into basically every line horrifies you. Also don't expect a ton of puppetry; it's only a minor component.

Enchanting, Entertaining, Funny, Clever

See it if you like horror hosts, nostalgia, quick pace, puppets, puns, and tongue twisters. Not a FringeJr. show but still ok for kids 10ish+

Don't see it if you're looking for something serious or actually scary

Clever, Great staging, Great acting, Hilarious, Fun

See it if you like to have FUN. The two actors are great at delivering puns and take you on a rollercoaster of laughs with each other and the puppets.

Don't see it if you want something serious. If you don't like old horror hosts shows or weren't a fan of Scooby Doo mystery solving growing up.

Theatre is Easy

"Not all plays require a deep, complex script as the main source of their entertainment value. 'Hideaway' relies less on plot and more on short films, puppetry, and props…The many props used throughout 'Hideaway' are well-crafted, and it's enjoyable to watch them being used…Despite Hideaway's strong aesthetics, more could have been done regarding the plot character development. That said, while the show is hardly a theatrical masterpiece, it certainly is fun."

"It's welcome that 'Hideaway' doesn't try to be more than it is: a compendium of playful segments, clever visual tricks, and silly jokes. There are no hidden meanings or artificial complexities, and the intermingling of horror and children's television tropes is a good deal of fun...The segments themselves maintain a healthy pace and integrate diverse material...By the end, the premise has started to wear a bit thin, but the amusing 'Hideaway' is a certainly a nice stop for a quick visit."

“If you’re a fan of the fright genre and nostalgic for classic Saturday morning TV shows for kids, ‘Hideaway’ will have you screaming with laughter! The one-hour parody is filled with funny faux fear, loaded with lots of alliteration, and punctuated with preposterous puns and witty word plays with macabre meanings...The fun and frights are supported by a devilishly delicious design...Sound by Jeanne E. Travis and lighting by Jennifer Linn Wilcox are appropriately hair-raising.”
