'On Kentucky Avenue' offers audiences a fictionalized view of life on stage and behind the scenes at Club Harlem. The setting is 1969, during dress rehearsal. A love triangle emerges between impresario Ivan King, his lead showgirl Betty Jo Stanton, and her best friend the featured female vocalist, Pauline Pierce. The musical features ’60s chart-topping music plus an original score true to the era.

Broadway After Dark

for a previous production "Neither time nor nostalgic memories of a by-gone era, however vivid or hazy, can overshadow the brilliance of this new musical...A full-fledged, razzle-dazzle riveting 'book' musical...The show recreates a time that was with a brilliant blend of rousing original finger-snapping songs along with music of the 1960s...'On Kentucky Avenue' is a vivid example of what Broadway should and can be." Wolf Entertainment Guide

for a previous production "It has the oomph to become successful...The show is primarily a revue, with little book--one that could be done without altogether. It is the effervescent, revue-formatted display of talent that makes the production...Shows like this usually had a comic, and talented, very funny Lee Summers filled the bill as affable Slappy Black, with a repertoire of corny vaudeville-style jokes that he delivered with expert timing and to much laughter." Theater Pizzazz

for a previous production "There is a story of sorts, which centers on a dress rehearsal for the opening night of the 1969 season and a love triangle...However this conflict is not developed enough to make a major contribution to the show and might easily be eliminated. What does make this show spectacular is the many wonderful song and dance numbers." Full Review
