From the show:

"Sailor" is a love story between Sofi, an Italian middle aged woman pursuing a dream of publishing a novel, and Juan, a young Mexican ex-gangster, turned dishwasher, who meet in the kitchen of a New York City restaurant.

The play actually tells the story of three immigrants. Sofi is an Italian woman who aspires to be a writer but is instead stuck in the daily routine of working in a busy New York restaurant. Miguel is a delivery boy at the restaurant, “Cantuccio,” where Sofi works. Juan is a young man from Mexican who leaves his home country to work towards his dream in the Big Apple, but ends up hostage of a street gang where his cousin forces him to work and for whom. To redeem himself and change his life, Juan takes a job as a dishwasher. The play speaks of work, fatigue and simply surviving in a city where dreams fall apart. Its goal is to explore the experience of immigration and break down the indifference and silence surrounding the topic.

Banal, Disappointing, Fluffy, Slow

See it if If you want a show that is both slow and weak in plot. Trying to deal with issues of the present.

Don't see it if If you want a show where the acting is consistent and a plot line that is consistent as well. If you like good staging.

Too much crammed in, Entertaining, Quirky, Slow, Relevant

See it if you want to see a thought provoking piece with a diverse cast dealing with issues of work, love and immigration with a good, but uneven cast

Don't see it if you want a polished play. This was first night but stage is too large, and story has too many pieces that do not fit well - editing needed.

Missed opportunity to explore undocumented immigrant story, opts instead for leaden soap opera/novela banality., Banal, Slow, Indulgent, Cliched

See it if You're a big fan of soap opera/novella style over-the-top storytelling with very little artistic or intellectual content.

Don't see it if You're looking for penetrating insights on contemporary social problems examined in an intelligent way.

Fluffy, Relevant, Romantic, Slow, Banal

See it if You want to see a love story that is related to current immigrant situation, the play definitely has a potential to be better,it is very long

Don't see it if You dont like plays with no intermission, (specially when it is 2 hrs long)still seems works in progress though.actors needs to bring A game

Resonant, Disappointing, Ambitious, Excruciating, Slow

See it if You haven't been to theater for a while & want to see something different & won't mind the slowpaced. There are some good moments,..

Don't see it if You don't care about a struggling love story of two immigrants with a bitter sweet ending. The overall performance lack of maturity & focus

Also The play can and should totally be shortened. The intense fighting see... Read more Read less

Quirky, Slow, Disappointing, Banal

See it if you appreciate the efforts of fledgling writers and actors

Don't see it if you don't like slow, long shows with no intermissions and very uncomfortable seating.

Slow, Cliched

See it if You want a story about “making it” in NYC that’s relevant today.

Don't see it if You are uncomfortable with violence or want a picture-perfect love story with a happy ending.

Also Unfortunately, the pace of the show dragged and many of the characters... Read more Read less
