About the show

Hudson Warehouse presents a pay-what-you-can, outdoor production of this 18th century English comedy, about an upperclass woman who poses as a maid to win her true love's heart. More…

When Kate realizes her suitor, the dashing Marlow, is a nervous wreck around upperclass women, but very easy and free with working class women, she realizes she needs to "stoop to conquer" by posing as a maid to win him over. Can she make him love her for who she really is? Hilarious misadventures and mayhem ensue before matters are neatly wrapped up at the end. This comedy of manners, which ridicules the manners of the upper class, was first performed in 1773.
