Art of Warr Productions presents a new staging of Aaron Posner's irreverent and contemporary remix of Chekhov’s "The Seagull." More…
From the show:
An aspiring young director rampages against the art created by his mother’s generation. A nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing up can be. In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov’s The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all. Original songs composed by James Sugg draw the famously subtextual inner thoughts of Chekhov’s characters to the surface. STUPID FUCKING BIRD will tickle, tantalize, and incite you to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel your own pursuit of happiness.
See it if Very modern update with alot of audience interacting.
Don't see it if you want wordy part with not a lot of happening. Has two 10 minute intermission.
See it if You want to see the precursor to Posner's better-realized Life Sucks in a pretty threadbare production with an uneven if game cast.
Don't see it if Expecting a fully realized production. There's no great sense of a unifying vision here, something absolutely necessary for meta-theatre.
See it if want to see new play by Aaron Posner
Don't see it if too long, too much talking, using unnatural voices. Expect to look a little like Chechov's play "The Seagull", not as tasteless variation.
See it if You are a fan of Aaron Posner. I saw this play at the Pearl Theater previously and loved it. This production was disappointing however.
Don't see it if you like Aaron Posner's work and don't want to be disappointed by a poorly executed production.
See it if You enjoy reinventions of classics, playful acting and surprising shifts
Don't see it if You saw the much better realized 'Life Sucks' which knew what tone to play in.
