See it if this is NOT theater. this is bad interactive performance art that is incoherent and annoying. a little poe didn't even go a long way

Don't see it if you don't want a normal theater experience that you can comprehend at the end!

Disorganized, Irritating, Shrill, Excruciating

See it if you're a huge Poe fan & want to hear some of his poetry & prose skillfully recited periodically between shrieking, wailing & convulsing.

Don't see it if u don't want to wander aimlessly through halls & doors & rooms in search of some meaning. [U don't stand a ghost of a chance of finding it.]

Also Clearly, the creators studied Sleep No More and Third Rail's immersive... Read more Read less

Not redeemable, Waste of time, Depressing, Disorganized, Boring

See it if you want a unique and kitschy experience in a midtown bar complete with alcoholic drinks. This will not be your usual “night out”.

Don't see it if you like immersive theater and you don't want the whole genre ruined for you. Screaming and twitching is not acting.

Also I should give them some slack since this was the first preview. It was... Read more Read less

Waste of time, Excruciating, Slow, Disappointing, Confusing

See it if you must see all Poe-related shows

Don't see it if you are a fan of more well-known immersive shows, or appreciate a plot rather than a non-fleshed out general concept

Also The show's biggest problems were unrelated to the show being as disorg... Read more Read less

Indulgent, Excruciating, Disappointing

See it if You love “immersive” theatre which requires a $25 drink minimum to enjoy.

Don't see it if You prefer shows with strong plot, direction, stakes, and relationships. I feel bad for the cast; they are trying so hard.

Also Nothing happens and I had such high hopes. I learned nothing about Poe... Read more Read less

"An immersive psychological thriller kills with a stellar visual and audio design, but lacks coherence in the narrative. The participants are cast as the new members of The Poe Society and are invited to follow the characters through the labyrinth of Underground."

"The first hour is a mixer for the audience to get to know the characters…But once the séance goes awry, the show does too. The characters become possessed by spirits of Poe or his family …the characters are possessed, and, whether catatonic, cataleptic, psychotic or just plain frantic, are too m...

"As for the show, it may be 'the only story-driven, multi-room immersive experience in the heart of Times Square,' but as written by Nate Raven it is very thin on information about 19th century writer Poe…it is mainly participation in a séance…which is neither spooky nor scary."
