Don't see it if You're not a fan of Shakespeare. He's not my cup of tea, but some productions are still able to hold my attention; this isn't one.

See it if this is one of Will's must see plays

Don't see it if steps on all of Will's great lines

Also I have seen some extraordinary Tempests including a recent production in Stratford, Canada with Martha Henry as Prospero and Patrick Stewart in that role in a 1995 production by The Public in Central Park that each displayed the magic of the play. These productions brought out the major themes of the play including the transformative effect of the theater, and how reconciliation and paying forward to the next generation can be responses to the impulse towards revenge and the act of aging.
