We've had a great time with our members at our previous Socials at Two River Theater in New Jersey, so we're going back for their next show, "Oo-Bla-Dee"! The musical about an all-black, all-female jazz band is written by Golden Globe Award winner Regina Taylor, featuring original songs by Taylor and Obie Award-winning composer Diedre L. Murray, and directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Tickets are only $30 (including all fees)! Afterwards, we'll enjoy snacks and drinks at The Library VIP room at the theater and discuss the show.
What are we seeing and when?
"Oo-Bla-Dee" at Two River Theater (NJ) (21 Bridge Avenue, Red Bank, NJ) on Sunday, June 9 at 3pm.
What is a Social?
We buy a bunch of tickets at a great price to a show and invite our members to join us. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. After the show, we hang out together and discuss what we just saw.
What's the Story?
Two River's new production follows Evelyn Waters and the Diviners, an all-black, all-female jazz band, as they travel from St. Louis to Chicago in order to set up a record deal following the end of World War II.
On this trip toward freedom, the latest member of the group, Gin Del Sol, must wrestle with the complex timing of the music as well as the complicated times in which she lives.
What's the deal?
The tickets are $30. This price includes a post-show reception and our fee.
Where are we sitting?
This box office doesn’t give us precise seat locations, but the theater itself has great sight lines all around.
