Funny, Great acting, Original, Clever, Fun

See it if you like musicals that take familiar characters and stories and present them in new ways.

Don't see it if you don't like to see old fairy tales updated or changed in any way.

Clever, Entertaining, Great staging, Hilarious, Must see

See it if you want to see a clever musical full of great choreography and exceptional acting (great expressions!) and staging. I give it an A- grade.

Don't see it if you struggle with a slow start and a couple of songs that miss the mark. Also, don't see it if you don't know the fairy tale characters.

Clever, Entertaining, Great acting, Great singing

See it if you want polished, inventive kids' show w/crisp choreography, & deft actors who delight you with their effortless, nuanced choices.

Don't see it if you're tired of amplified music that overwhelms voices; you'd like to hear the lyrics; you want something other than the Broadway formula.

Theatre is Easy
August 21st, 2016

“The music by M. Scott McLean and Michael McLean is high energy, fun, and memorable - you’re guaranteed to walk away with a song or two playing in your head...The dialogue and lyrics are more on the sophisticated side for children’s theater, making this show perhaps better suited to ages eight and older...A wonderful family show with great messages of love and the spirit of giving that parents will enjoy just as much as their children..”

"Although some of the visual elements are lean, the McLean men have come up with some wit…Wisely, they ground the doings in humor…However, there were many instances of too-advanced vocabulary and wordy speeches and the cardinal sin of telling instead of showing, which also can make children confused and tune out…This could use some trimming…There’s some refreshing repartee and splendid ideas…When things clicked, this Christmas in August really rang the jingle bell."
